Can someone explain this...

I copied it from NVC website.

UPDATE ON JULY VISA AVAILABILITY

The sudden backlog reduction efforts by Citizenship and Immigration Services Offices during the past month have resulted in the use of almost 60,000 Employment numbers. As a result of this unexpected action it has been necessary to make immediate adjustments to several previously announced cut-off dates. All Citizenship and Immigration Services Offices have been notified of the following:

Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations inresponse to requests for Employment-based preference cases. All numbers available to these categories under the FY-2007 annual numerical limitation have been made available.

Employment preference numbers will once again be available to these chargeability areas beginning October 1, 2007, under the FY-2008 annual numerical limitation.

We have seen a fair number of nurses from around the world get interviews for this month. Those interviews will continue on as they have the visa number allocated for them and their dependents. That is not going to change.

And I had predicted in the past that there would not be any new visas available for anyone before the fall. What is being used right now are just recapped visas and was done to clear up some of the petitions that have been pending for sometime. This was never to change things for nurses in the first place, the retrogression is still in place.

Suzanne,

i have an interview date give by the Us Embassy for the last week of August. Do you think, it will go on schedule?

May we ask when is your PD again? The recent events are still a bit murky. All we know now is that the visas are said to have been allocated already, and no I-485 (AOS) would be entertained for those in the US already.

I think, at least to my understanding and don't quote me on this, if you have a PD that was included on those that were allocated for visas then you should have a chance. It depends on what will be the the new cut-off date for your country. I think there should be new cut-off dates for each country but who knows what they'll do, esp. after what just happened.

I wish you luck, though and hope your PD was included. There should be more clarifications in the coming days.

Lawrence, Thanks for your attention, My Pd is Feb-06. I understand that things are fluid again and I have to wait untill they update new cut-off dates for each countries.

I just finished my medical, and do you know how many months it is valid?

In the Phils., it's good for a year if I'm not mistaken. Should be the same, more or less.

I think it is better for you to consult your consulate. Where are you having the interview? Ask them if it will push through or not. The medical last for a year. Your PD is FEB-06? did they ask you to submit updated DS230 before you were scheduled?

If you have an interview given to you, then there is a visa number put aside for you. That was the whole purpose of this opening with the recapped visas: To clear up pending petitions that have been on hold since last year and were just waiting for the interviews.

Please do not change this interview date for any reason. These visas are recapped and were not used by the original people that they were assigned to in many cases.

Do not agree with you on this. If the US Embassy has set an appt for an interview, it means that there is a visa number that has been reserved for this person. No need to contact the Embassy at all.

Best of luck, mpoova. Keep us updated.
