Nutrition class question???

OK, after changing my schedule about 4 or 5 times now, I have discovered something else just a couple of days ago. In the class schedule shen enrolling Applied Nutrition indicated it had no prerequisite. So I enrolled. Now I looked in the school catalog just for fun, and it said that A&P is a prereq. Well, I am also taking that this semester. Do you guys think that I will be OK not having A&P first, before nutrition? Because there IS NO WAY I am rearranging this schedule again! I will bust my butt to learn nutrition, even if I don't know A&P yet!!!:roll

Your school will allow that?

If I'm not mistaken, you HAVE to have the pre-req BEFORE enrolling in the other class.

Double check to be sure..

Wonder if they could hold your grade and make you take it again?:eek

Wish I could offer more advice....I'm pretty stumped on college workings sometimes.....

Good Luck! :)

You will be fine. My nutrition class didn't get greatly in depth. High school bio and chem should be enough. My guess is that A&P is just recommended otherwise you wouldn't have been able to register for it at all. If you still aren't sure talk to your advisor.

Hello, I had A&P's before Nutrition, I'm taking Nutrition right now. I really don't think A&P's are necessary but it all depends on the schools criteria I guess.

Some people in my class have not taken the A&P's, so it's ok here.

Great! After the h*ll I went thru just enrolling I am NOT dropping this class! I was afraid to call my school, I didn't want them to tell me I couldn't take it! But I finally did, and the lady I talked to said she thinks it will be just fine. Whew!!!!! I will just be glad when my first day of school is over, I feel like a teenager again...haha

when i was at a 4 yr. college getting pre-req'a i signed up for a nutrition class.. until i saw the syllabus online.. 14 page research paper, plus a daily 2 week diet w/paper... eek.. i dropped that class fast ..lol... the nutrition class i'm taking now is so much more appropriate for my program !!

:p :chuckle :nono:

Well if you were able to register for it and you didn't get a message telling you that you couldn't take it.. should be good to go!!!

Thank God for small favors right?..lol Good Luck ;)

I took Nutrition at the same time as AP1. I dod just fine, a 105.6 average to be exact (she gave bonus questions and a paper that can make extra points for a test - I did the paper just in case and recieved all the points for the bonus questions) My class pretty much went along with AP1 in a lot of ways and it also taught tme things that I needed to know for AP2 so I was ahead of alot of people on some of the info - especially the digestive system. Good Luck:)!

Hi there,

I would say that if the computer system let it go through you should be ok.

My schools system is super strict. I even have pre-req's met from another university and I STILL have to have my advisor sign off on my classes. You can't even sweet talk the people in the Registrar's office to schedule it for you.

Good Luck!

Although classes are different and more/less in depth at different schools, I bet you'll be just fine taking nutrition with A & P. I had A & P before nutrition, but it was only helpful because I recognized a few terms and concepts from it. I think you'll keep up just fine, if not better since you're getting both classes at once and you won't have forgotten anything from A & P yet! Good luck!!

Ashemson, what is applied nutrition? The nutrition class Baylor asks for is just Nutrition. Applied nutrition may be an upper-level nutrition class. Just wondering. I noticed at one of the four year colleges, there class schedule offered both.

I really don't know on the "applied" part of that title. My school only offers one nutrition course, so I don't think it is an advanced type of course. Let's hope not anyway! My junkfood potato chip body doesn't know much about nutrition!
