Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice about training as a General Nurse in the UK.I'm from Ireland with a degree already in a totally unrealted area. I don't mind paying fees as i'd have to do it here but the course is only 3years in the UK hence the interest!
I've been looking through the UCAS website for universities where you can do your training but i'd love some first hand experiences! Location wise i'd prefer somewhere around Wales but i'd consider other locations too.
Thanks a mill :wink2:

Depends what sort of things you are looking for, one thing to be aware if you are planning on looking to work abroad in the future it may be benificail to arrange with your uni experience in all areas covering both theory and practical. There are a couple of threads on here from students and there are a few students floating about.
Welcome to the site :groupwelcome:
hi anna,
thanks for that, im mainly interested in Swansea, Cardiff or maybe Bangor universities if anyone has experienced those. i am in the process of checking out if the qualifications from the UK are valid to work in Ireland, overseas etc.

Hi, I can give experiences as a post grad student in Uni Glam and Swansea.
Firstly Swansea I have found very well organised and an excellent university I have worked in both morriston and singleton hospitals and have enjoyed both, details of Swansea Uni can be found at http://www.swan.ac.uk
Uni Glamorgan again was as a post grad and the first course I did was very good and I enjoyed greatly but my second experience was not so good, in fact as a result of the attitude of some of the tutors and because I was a self funding student I tuirned down the place and opted to go to swansea which was a really good decision.
I have worked in some of the hopsitals that Uni Glam send students to and although it was some time ago I enjoyed working there.
Can't give any information about Cardiff Uni as I haven't studied there but have worked in cardiff and found that there is a great variety of specialities in a small area, some students really like this and some prefer a more generalist envionment it depends on what you want from your training.
If you need to know anything else please PM me
