I have this kickin tattoo that runs from my shoulder to my forearm.
i got it about 5 years ago over a 3 day period with 22 hours work.
I never regreted it.While at work it is always covered-my co workers were surprised to find i had one and naturally they wanted to see it.
Maybe im old fashioned but i feel excessive/off beat piercings or visible skin art should stay out of the work environment. What you display on your off time is your business.
I have found that in many places I have worked they have policies that curb" excessive" jewelry.
Cheers!

I have 5.
3 of them on my back is an ongoing work in progress. parts of Pink Floyd album covers.1 Thumper from Bambie and 1 I can't discuss. No one can see them except my husband. I don't think you should be able to see them at work either. My family was shocked to the core to find out I had them. I could never peirce anything. The thought of it makes me queasy. I know it doesn't make sense-but there it is.

I have Pooh on my right leg lower outer aspect. he sits on my sock cuff when I have shorts on. I love it ! It is hidden by my uniform pants. Everyone knows I have it. Since I am 56 it is quite a topic.
Much more interesting would be the tattoo of a geriatric patient I once had: a womans name written vertically on his member. It was not his wife's name, so I couldn't help but be curious who the mystery woman was.
OUCH!
A coworker once told she performed a physical on a woman who had a large tattoo of a member and a mans name on her back. She didnt have the nerve to ask about it but felt the dimensions were probably not correct!
Happy weekend!!

If I could have a tatto for 5 years that would wear off after that I would consider it. I just don't want to commit to something for a lifetime that I may grow to dislike later. If I were to get a tattoo it would be in a place covered by my scrubs.:chuckle

I have four tattoos, all of which are covered while in scrubs. I have dolphins around my left ankle, a butterfly on the small of my back, a dolphin jumping over my naval, and a gecko on my shoulder.

I have 6 tattoos. My favorite is the angel that covers my left shoulder blade. I plan on getting a couple more in the near future. All of the tattoos I have gotten have a personal meaning to me.
If I was 20 years old I probably would consider a tattoo. I like to walk down the beach with my kids and let them adorn me, not my tattoos that I got when I was a younger. If they could give me a temporary tattoo that would be fine.:)
Had an OB patient who had a kazillion! And multiple peircings -- everywhere! Her OB was away when she come in in labor and whe had the doc on call-- who had never seen her before. You should have seen his face!!! We, the OB crew, knew her ( was in w/ premature labor LOTS) and knew that Doc V was extremely conservative and easily thrown. TOO FUNNY! He did do well through the delivery, but kept saying "I have never seen so many tatoos in my life!...Did you SEE all those tattoos?! Did you SEE all those tattoos?! Wouldn't that hut?! SOme of those tattoos were in some delicate spots - don't you think? Did you SEE all those tattoos?!" Poor guy. :chuckle

I took care of a patient that actually had a tattoo of an ejaculating member on her chest. I had to laugh when I was trying to help her learn to breastfeed and figured out what it was! I have four tattoos: a heart with the man in the moon on my right breast, a pair of hearts with my two kids' names in them on my right upper arm (my husband says it makes me look like Popeye the sailor man), the NA symbol on my lower back, and my beloved green VW bus on my right thigh. The bus one hurt the most, BTW. On on the back, almost not at all.
