yea, i did, and i pretty much slept through it LOL...but, everyone has different experiences and different pain thresholds. I know people who have said it was the worst one pain-wise that they've had.

I love my tattos - I have to wear long sleeves at work to cover them up, but I love them and I also like listening to other people's stories about what their tattoos mean.

I only have two, for now anyway as I plan on getting two more. One is upper left chest (hopefully high enough to be minimally affected by that lovely sagging effect as I get older ); it's a half moon and stars, symbolizing the three children I had at the time. The other is a purple flower on my left ankle that I got with my oldest daughter when she turned 18. For the most part, the chest one is covered by scrubs--occasionally it peeps out, but I've never had a patient make a negative comment.
The two I plan to get will symbolize all 6 kids I have now (my 5 plus a step-daughter) and some sort of celtic symbol. I haven't yet decided where to put them though.

I have one..it's on my lower back. It's a purple flower with a vine coming off of it on both sides. It's about 8 inches long. And I absolutely love it. I want to get another one. I'm thinking either on the inside of my left wrist or on the top of my foot. I haven't made up my mind, though. I also have 7 piercings in my ears (4 in the right and 3 in the left). I also have my navel and right nipple pierced. And I have to say that getting my ears pierced hurt worse than the navel or nipple.
I don't think that having tattoos make you look any less professional. People will see what kind of nurse you are by the care you give them.

I have 2 tats. One is a sun/moon yinyang on my lower back. The second is a cherub crying by a headstone with the quote "gone from our lives but not from out hearts." I got this one when my father passed away. And since my mom is in poor health, I will get one for her when she passes.
I went straight from nursing school into the ICU and loved every minute of it. I was there for six years. I left after my father passed away. I just couldn't emotionally stay. Now I am in clinical research and love it just as much. I learn something new everyday.

Got #3 a few months ago, the Disney character Eeyore on my left outer ankle - covered by scrubs. I am pondering the next one, either a modified yin-yang symbol with the yin and yang made out of horses heads, (not sure where I'll put it, prolly upper arm), or a trio of roses - one red, one yellow, and one peach (which are the colors hubby proposed with :blushkiss) on my wrist with vines wrapping around like a bracelet. It would be small enough that I could cover it with a watch if I wanted or needed to. They are addictive! :wink2:
Yeah tattoos are definitely addictive!! I have 5 and after each of the last 2, I remember thinking, never again. I'm sure the itch will strike me again soon!

I have 3 tattoos, a naval piercing and 12 holes in my ears. All my tattoos are covered by my scrubs and I take out my earings except for a pair or two. I try to remember that even though the tattoos and the piercings don't make me any less of a nurse but some patients don't like it.
