And even then, I would just make a comment to them about it, like 'aren't you afraid you will be caught and kicked out?' (unless there is something noted in the policies that if you observe a fellow student doing drugs, you must tell an official or your spot will be at risk, too----in that case, I'd tell someone to cover my own heiney)

Anti-depressants, sleep aids... DR PERSCRIBED meds are one thing... absolutely NOTHING wrong with them. And - to not say anything about a fellow student or co-worker abusing drugs... come on people! It's ILLEGIAL ... it's WRONG ... it's DANGEROUS! These students/professionals have real people's lives in their hands!!! If I KNEW that a student in my class - or a co-worker was abusing drugs - of ANY kind... I would go to our superior - IMMEDIATELY!Please - Please do the right thing! This person could be caring for MY husband or son one day!!!

I do not advocate the use of marijuana or any other illegal drugs. If someone is doing this before or during patient care, that changes things. I took the OP's original question to mean that this person was doing this in their spare time. The truth is, you probably know several people who smoke marijuana, do illegal drugs or abuse "DR. PRESCRIBED" drugs. And yes, believe it or not, even Dr. prescribed drugs can be and are frequently abused.

That is just as bad as the illegal ones. I grew up in a drug infested, alcoholic (and NO, I do not see anything wrong with drinking in moderation) home. My father was a convicted fellon at 17 for trafficing cocaine. I have very strong feelings with any sort of illegal drug use (including prescription drugs that are abused). Especially being a health care professional - you should MORE than know better!

That would change everything for me. I wouldn't knowing smell drugs on a person and not inform my instructors, I would go running to tell, especially if we are doing clinicals where this person would be caring for patients or skill labs where this person may have to give an injection to a fellow student:no:.Knowing me I would say something to them like...umm just in case you don't realize it, you reek of mary j.,,I understand the whole thing about medical marijuana, but it's a time and a place for everything(IF this is the case), This is just my
