I'm currently enrolled into ADN program at my school my passion/ hearts desire has always been to be a nurse every since I was a little girl. But I have not been doing well in school I study for hours form study groups attend tutoring sessions long hours of studying and still not pass the test. I literally feel like giving up n maybe come back to nursing n do something else. I'm not getting any younger n I've been in school for years I transferred to a school 40 mins away bc this what I really want. I read and ask myself questions but sometimes it seems like nothing is being absorbed. What to do? I'm already starting off on the wrong foot it's depressing n embarrassing.

Every canyon was started by a determined drop of water. Hang in there. Try other methods of study. Word association, etc. Good luck. :)

I would try getting a study partner or study group. Theywould have to be earnest about studying, not talking about social things. You can also ask your advisor or an instructor for advice. Maybe there are tutors if your school has graduate nurses.

That used to be me. Are you taking nclex style questions. To this day I still kind of struggle with this type of testing and I'm in my 4th semester! It will get better. Talk to your instructors that's very important. Let them know what's going on, ask for some advice, and explain to them your rationale for picking a certain answer. Your instructor will let you know where you went wrong and help guide you. It works trust me.
Another thing is participate in a study group. When you have a gang of people express what they know about a certain subject...sometimes they say things you don't even know and make you pay attention to Use flashcards , quizlet, nclex study guides.
A teacher told me about concept mapping. After reading a PowerPoint write a specific subject down then write everything that you know about that subject without looking at the PowerPoint. Then look back at the PowerPoint and write the things you missed. Writing things down can help reinforce the content to you. Also look up test taking strategies like prioritization, ABC's, keywords, and how to pick between two answers.
However. An instructor will really help you assess your weakness and find out what you can do to get better results. Hope all this helps!! Good luck :) you will get better trust me !! I've been there.
