Struggling nursing student

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I am struggling with nursing school. I'm a junior, my grades through my program have always been B's average with A's in all my clinical rotations. I'm getting down on myself and frustrated because no matter how hard I try or how hard I study or what I do I end up with a B, at most a B+ on exams. In clinical I do great and feel totally comfortable, but when it comes to tests I really struggle. I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to pass the NCLEX and that I made a mistake picking nursing. This is really what I want to do and I don't know what to do to keep myself from being so discouraged.

As long as you are passing and getting Bs you should be fine. 85% of all first-times pass NCLEX. You are letting this occupy space in your head that it should not.

Spoke about my struggles during nursing school. I basically was a "B" student as well. You area passing! Give yourself some credit!

As far as the NCLEX goes, NOBODY ever feels they passed. I cried when I took my NCLEX because I was so sure I failed, but I passed!

As long as you put in the time and effort into studying for the NCLEX you will be okay. Nursing programs are meant to train your mind to think a certain way, and if you are passing you tests then you should be okay.

((HUGS)) Don't sell yourself short. There is no rule that a B student can't take the NCLEX. YOu got this....give yourself a break.

You are half way and passing! Slow and steady and you will be fine.

A B is still a great grade. Keep up the good work. I was a straight A student in high school and it was difficult at first to get Bs and Cs in college. First, what is important is the degree that allows you to sit for the NCLEX. Practice for the NCLEX with a review book and I recommend not putting off the NCLEX if possible. Take it while you are still in school mode and in contact with classmates for study groups. Remember, too much anxiety about tests can impair your test performance. Just think to your self that you CAN do it.
