Hi

I am doing a cse study(my 1st :yeah: ) I have a couple of questions i am having trouble finding the correct answer

1) George has an unhealing diabetic leg ulcer, How would you determine which bacterium is causing the exudate?

2)How would you choose the correct antibiotic to treat George's infection

3) George has reversible airways obstruction. He probably has asthma as well as chronic obstructive airways disease, resulting from smoking What are the groups of drugs used to treat George's respiratory condition? Describe the mode of action of each group.

4) what are the the major groups of pain medications, and describe their modes of action

I have looked and looked :banghead:i would really love some help i have done 30/35 question so far

Thankyou

These seem like fairly straight forward questions and I'm surprised you are having trouble with them. Perhaps you could post what your thought are about them thus far.

By the way, the first two questions are connected and the answers to the third and fourth questions are in any medication handbook.

1) george has an unhealing diabetic leg ulcer, how would you determine which bacterium is causing the exudate?

take a specimen of the exudate and send to the lab for culture and sensitivity testing. you need a doctor's order to do this.

2)how would you choose the correct antibiotic to treat george's infection

the sensitivity report will tell you which antibiotics the bacteria will respond positively to and be destroyed. those will be the antibiotics the doctor will want to order.

3) george has reversible airways obstruction. he probably has asthma as well as chronic obstructive airways disease, resulting from smoking what are the groups of drugs used to treat george's respiratory condition? describe the mode of action of each group.

bronchodilators, cortocosteroids, histamine antagonists, leukotriene antagonists, antibiotics, oxygen

4) what are the the major groups of pain medications, and describe their modes of action.

opioids and nonopioids

Thnkyou so much i was right with question 1, 2 and 4. quest 4 are opoids and non-opoids in the class of anaglesics? If i post a link to my finished case study do you think you could have a quick check of it for me Thanks once again

Remember, the case study must be all your own work otherwise that is plagarism!! Serious offence...

Be careful mum of 4 :uhoh21:

Do you suggest that i am plagarising because i ask some help on some question? That was an inapropriate remark. I know the rules

Opioids and NSAIDs are both analgesics, though they have different actions and properties. Hope this helps.

BTW, I don't think littlenurse27 was out of line with her remark about plagiarism. There seems to be alot of new people on here all the time asking for people to do their homework for them and it is really important that everyone does their own work and only asks for help if they need it, not because they're lazy and expect the community to do their work for them. It sounds like you were just looking for a little clarification but it can be hard to tell sometimes.

Good luck with your assignment!

Thanks for your help but i do feel she was totally out of line i have completed 33 questions of my case study all by myself just needed some clarification and backup on my answers. I was not asking for anyone to do my homework. I do not plagarise i know the consequences.

At the same token you didn't offer up 'what' you had come up with - so it begs the question as to whether you needed help or a handout.

as a nurse of 32 years i like to think that i can tell when someone is asking for help or trying to get someone to do their homework for them. some questions are based on clinical experience which nursing textbooks aren't always real good at explaining!

the idea that getting answers from someone to questions here is plagiarism would make this forum void and need to shut down, wouldn't it? then, how are you going to find things out?

Thankyou Daytonite for your back up! I appreciate your help and anyone on this site that offers help with questions that some of us find challenging.

I wouldn't have gone so far as plagiarism, but I would have felt more comfortable if studentmumof4 (that's quite a load you've got there already!) had volunteered her thinking on the questions first, which is why I asked what she already had. As I posted intitially, the questions seem relatively straight-forward, though that could just be because it's all second nature by now.

Some advice for next time - allnurses folk are usually very happy to help out, but will feel less conflicted about helping if you demonstrate that you've already given some thought to the questions before posting. If nothing else that will help you work out where you might have gone wrong, which will help you with future research.
