After a few months of a gluten-free diet, the intestinal villi often recover enough so that lactose intolerance isn't so much of a problem. It is trauma to the villi that cause lactose intolerance symptoms in celiac disease. It's not that dairy contains glutens.
I guess I'd like a more specific question. Dairy products are not off-limits for all celiac disease patients.
THANKS! c here's the deal...that was a question on one of my tests and i needed everyone's opinion because i picked...apples, chicken, and milk...because as a nurse i would not want to give the patient milk with celiac just in case. I got the question wrong the answer was apples and chicken....but i think the question should be pulled because it really does not specify much, what do you think????...thanks again.

Personally I think the question was very clear. My son also has celiac disease and a big no no is milk and all gluten products. He's not allergic to milk products at all but it does affect his celiac disease and the first thing his gastrointerologist stressed highly.
