Nursing Student admits online doing Ectasy and encouraging another how to do it .

I am SHOCKED by this nursing student's response to someone asking how to do illegal drugs on Yahoo Answers website. What sort of nursing student (A student about to graduate) would say these things? She could kill someone and she is going against the Nursing Code of Ethics. Is there anything to stop people like this? This totally shocked me. The Nursing Student answered the following question and both question and answer are as below:

Ecstasy experts I need some help?

Ok so I smoke pot allot and last night I tried ex for the first time and im not gonna lie I liked it. So I was wondering how long should I wait in between usage? And also ive heard stuff like drink lots of water, get vitamin C and E, take some type of tablet that you can buy from the store, it makes serotonin for your body.....Is this true? What should I do so it doesn't do AS MUCH damage to me (besides stopping you smart asses)? And also what helps so the come down isn't that bad? And what kind of ex should I really look out for? Please give lots of info?

(And for all the people who don't approve, or think its stupid, who cares?!? You can all just screw off just like your opinions and thoughts. I could care less what you think :)

ANSWER (FROM A NURSING STUDENT ABOUT TO GRADUATE):

I have done ecstasy at least 13 time within the past year and I think that at least once a month is ok... I am almost graduating from a nursing school with an A average. I have had a CAT/brain scan and eveything is completely normal. I feel that if you space your rolls that you will get high easier without a tolerance and that it is safer for you body... When you space them your body has time to readjust and get hydrated and all of the vitamins that you need back into your system... I wouldn't recommend more than 3 pills in one night. I have probably taken 26 pills in the last year, and like i said A average with no side effects. Do like you have been told or ask your dealer for good advice... Oh, and listen to techno ; ) drink water but don' gulp it down! Your intracranial cavity can retain water if you do gulp... Be safe and just pay attention to your body... Stay happy with your roll... and dont be stressed when you take it! Hope this helped :)

this discussion is already getting repetitive and reminiscent of this thread about nursing students taking drugs: https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/nursing-student-taking-360819.html .

i think that throwing out "it's illegal" or this student "broke the law" is interesting- b/c many us break laws daily. this, also, is covered in the above thread.

peAce!

Somehow, I don't think 'using ecstasy' factors into what a prudent nurse would do. Perhaps someone else has a different interpretation of the professional code of ethics for nursing.

That is the crux of the issue. Prudence.

This person obviously lacks common sense.

I admit to lacking common sense but this is just plain stupid.

Why even go to nursing school AND pay for it while doing things like this???

There is/was a time to party and life and there is a time to put away childish things and grow up...

I'm not against the drug at all. Heck, if it were legal I'd partake in it myself. What I wouldn't do is risk getting kicked out of nursing school for a quick high...

There are PLENTY of jobs that DON'T drug test. Why would you pick one that is notorious for it? Why would you pick one that puts you in constant contact with OTHER drugs that you might find appealing and that are addictive?

Common sense obviously isn't to common.

if the idiot that posted that is a nursing student they obviously don't realize that ip addy's can be traced by the forum she's on. if she's ever used that id for any professional or educational emails, someone could recognize it as her.

i guess since i am over weight i shouldn't be your nurse. especially since i recently showed someone how to fry a twinkie. :D

nah, i'm teasing you!

this person needs to work on their common sense and judgment methinks.

now for the real question: how do you fry a twinkie?? i heard they had those at the fair this year. this sounds like something nursing students really should learn how to do, especially with finals in only 3 weeks. lol

RE:

"Also, it is not implicitly illegal to be under the influence of any drug...only to buy it, be in possession of it, or be under the influence of it while driving. So she is technically not even breaking the law." and other similar responses on the far liberal side.

Maybe the nurses association could have two different codes of conduct and a nurse gets to choose which ones apply to them. Then when you go apply for your job, you indicated which group you belong to--the people who think that doing drugs as long as it's on their own time is OK and those who hold the standards of the present code. I wonder how many hospitals and other places would be hiring the first group. If I was employer, I would want to hire someone who took the code seriously.

We all make mistakes, but this sort of lifestyle does not really fit the "nursing picture" of what a nurse is and stands for. It sort of demoralizes it and brings it down to a lower level. I think we should strive to keep it on the highest level and to protect it.

i wonder if this student thinks she's helping this person out. like i said, people are going to do things that are bad for them, giving them information to do it in a *less* dangerous way actually has its benefits (kinda like a needle exchange program).

i guess i'm liberal in my view that what goes on while you're not at work (as long as it doesn't spill into your work week) it not anyone's business.

She probably does, I had to reread what she wrote and basically she advised the person that monthly usage was okay. She also that up to 3 pills in one night was safe. It's anything but safe, given how each pill is different from the next because they aren't regulated and so far that person had only taken one previously. I wouldn't expect that kind of advice from a regular pill popper, much less from a nursing student. Her advice isn't less dangerous at all.

and for my strawman of the day......

So if you were dying and a nurse who had smoked a joint sometime in her career was the only one avaible to provide care at the time, you'd rather die.

Oooo, can I answer? Given the situation you've provided, I'd ask that nurse for a joint and a light. After all, I'm dying so losing my job is not an issue.

Now, I've got a strawman for you. If one of your loved ones needed a CABG and you had two surgeons who could do the surgery. One had just smoked a huge joint and the other was totally clean of drugs/alcohol. Which would you choose? (There's no wrong answer. It's just a personal choice.)

My strawman was better than yours cuz in mine the person was not currently under the influence just had a past.

Oh darn, I thought you'd answer the question since I answered yours. Oh well, I guess I was expecting too much.

Oh sorry, well clearly I'm a pot head from my posting and don't see nothing wrong with it so I'd have to go with the stoner dr. to help advance the cause. Anything for the cause you know.

Thank you. I don't really care if people use drugs on their own time. But I would like my surgeon, airline pilot, bus driver, nurse, to be clean and sober. I've seen enough mistakes from people when they're sober.

From another angle, there are a number of industries that do random and not so random drug testing. People need to ask themselves whether the buzz is worth losing their job. I saw a semiconductor tech lose his $70K/yr job because he maxed out a random test on a Monday morning. The scuttlebutt was that he tested positive for everything except ETOH. It must have been quite a weekend! It sure was an expensive one!

ip addresses change, regularly. no one without a sub peona is going to get that information. it is wrong to suggest otherwise.

now for the real question: how do you fry a twinkie?? i heard they had those at the fair this year. this sounds like something nursing students really should learn how to do, especially with finals in only 3 weeks. lol
i can't tell you. it would be irresponsible! i am apparently held to a higher moral code and fried twinkies could kill you so you just have to find out on your own. :D

sorry i wasn't meaning to overstep there, but i have i had someone (in the past year) who somehow got my ip at a message board who was able to track down my physical address to a cross street and posted it online. it was a bit scary.
