Right now it's an expense to sponsor a foreign educated nurse when they can hand pick qualified nurses here that will be less of an expense to the employers. If you are already here on a green card you don't need sponsorship. If you don't have a qualified visa to work it's going to be hard to find an employer willing to spend the monoey to sponsor you. Good Luck
Just to add even if you find a employer you are affected by retrogression and currently looking at several years wait, this is another reason why it is hard to find a employer. Firstly many US citizens and PR are looking for work and secondly employers can't wait several years for someone due to retrogression
There is no, and has not been a true nursing shortage in the USA in ages. And there are thousands of unemployed US nurses for what few jobs that there are.Have you thought about working in your nation?
If I wanted to work in my nation I wouldn't of leaved my country!! And yes there is a shortage is has gotten better but there are still a high need in nurses

Hello everyone,
I am a registered nurse from Germany. I finally found a state to except my degree from germany. I took the NCLEX in El Paso tx but for the state of California. I know it's weird but that is the only way I could sit for the boards at all. I am working on transfering my license to Texas now. I am applying everywhere for a Nursing job but since I need sponsorship. So far all the major hospitals turned me down since it's an expense for them. I understand there councern but at the same time they make such a big thing that the United States is short on Nurses. Can anybody help me please? I would appreciate any advise I just want to finally work as a Nurse after 5 years of fighting for it.
