Nursing School Entrance Exam

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

for some reason today as i sat at work bored out of my mind i started worrying about the nursing school entrance exam! (odd as it may sound i'm more worried about this than the nclex, although both are still a ways off!)

i have another year worth of pre-req's to complete before i can even think about the entrance exam... but it's scaring me! what if i don't retain the information that i'm learning in a&p 1 or pharm?? :uhoh21:

i suppose i'm just curious as to what kind of stuff is on this exam?

are you talking about the net test??? if so you can talk to your school about what book to get. it is not nearly as bad as you think. i never took a&p or pharm and took the test. it is mainly reading comprehension and math.

it wasnt that hard at all. as for it comparing to the nclex no comparison. i have looked at some of those practice questions on nclex and that is way different than the nurse entrance exam

if you are talking about the net, it has nothing to do with anatomy, only basic math, reading, and comprehension. if you get the study guide book, you will be okay. i am horrible with standardized tests, and i passed on the first try.

The NET is not the only entrance test out there folks. Brookhaven College, part of the Dallas County Community College District, uses a HESI test that includes A&P info as well as the basic "can you read?" and "can you count past 20 with all of your clothes on?" math.

Our college uses the HESI admittance exam, but I just found out that we are not required to take the science parts- just vocabulary, reading comprehension, grammer and math. I heard it was pretty basic.

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

Find out which one it is. There are a few like NET, NLN etc. Most only require basic knowledge of the subjects so don't worry too much. Good luck. :)

Our school uses the TEAS entrance exam. I take it this Saturday. It is reading/grammar/science ( A+P, molecular bio, life bio, chem, physics) and math.

my school uses the NAT? UGHH, I'm calling to see if there is a book to help me study.

Specializes in med surg, icu.

So this means the NET doesn't have science knowledge questions? Or does it? I ordered the book, but it won't come for awhile... so I looked up some information on the web, and different sites give different information. I found one site that was asking me questions about things from science classes like A&P and basic physics (not reading comprehension.. just straight up questions)... is that included in the exam?

If you are taking the NET, it is only reading comprehension and basic math. I was scared to death, because I knew you had to not only pass but do really well to get into my nursing school. I bought the study guide for the NET, and I did great on the NET. I am also accepted to start my BSN in January. Like someone else said, different schools use different tests, so make really sure which one they are using. Another program here used a different entrance test that did have science on it. But with that said, buy the study book with the NET if your nursing school is using that test, and it will help lots.

My school also uses the TEAS exam. I have put it off so long that I only have 3 test dates before I apply. Having a hard time finding a book for the TEAS. Did you get one and where?
