Nursing school blues

Published

Hello everyone! First off I would like to say I am so grateful to be in nursing school. I am pursing a life long dream to become nurse, and by no means need to be talked off the ledge of dropping out of nursing school. I love nursing school! I am writing this because I have found as I have gone through the years of nursing school, I have become socially isolated and starting to feel withdrawn. It is hard to constantly not be able to do anything outside of studying, and it starting to bring me down. I have a son and boyfriend who are my life and not mention the only people I really see outside of school. I am wondering if anyone has felt similar to this, and if anyone has any words of encouragement. I even find myself being sort of up tight all the time, because of how I am feeling. And no I don't need anti depression pills..I am not depressed! I know what it feels like to be depressed, I more feel socially isolated. Thank you! ps. please don't make any negative comments on this post... That is the last thing I need right now!

Is there some sort of need you have that is not being fulfilled by your SO & son? Social interaction is not necessary for one's wellbeing, especially not with random people simply because you think that's what you're supposed to be doing. There are many of us who are perfectly happy with our own company. At this point, your lifestyle (HATE that word) reflects the fact that you're focusing on school & becoming more mature. Undoubtedly, it will change as your priorities change.

You've got this. You're going to be fine.

I feel ya.

Words of encouragement? "It's temporary."

Thank you I needed to hear this! I am actually a loner by nature, I am not one to need constant social interaction... it is just when you are missing family members birthdays, outings with my son, and simple just being a family it gets me down. I always tell myself this temporary, but it just feels good to hear it from someone else. Thank you both for the reply!
