Hello, your school probably has scholarships designed for specific fields of study (ie nursing) as well as general scholarships open to all majors. Some are based on financial need and/or GPA. The financial aid/scholarship office should be able to help. :)

I'm involved with Americorps which is sort of like the Peace Corps but only based in America. The program was begun by President Clinton's administration. Based on your number of volunteer hours, you get tuition reimbursement. It can help offset the costs of college depending on how much you volunteer.
I volunteer at the hospital 7 hours a week and many more hours with my kids' activities (scouts, schools, etc.) I also get to count the hours in class that I'm "furthering my education in the field of study". So, my Nursing lecture hours count too. Go figure. Lots of nursing students do this here. Check it out: http://www.americorps.org I'm really surprised more people don't participate in this program.

Before you start diving into applications and writing your essays, I recommend learning how to spell "scholarships" ...

You could try your state board of nursing website. My state (MD) has a workforce shortage scholarship and others you can apply to. Also don't limit yourself to just nursing scholarships. Think about your GPA and other skills you may have that may qualify you for other scholarships.
Not everyone can spell every work perfectly so don't let that stop you. That's what spellcheck is for.

The Discover Nursing website (http://www.discovernursing.com) has a good database of nursing scholarships.
