nursing pins - yay or nay?

Published

How many of you are for sure buying a nursing pin? How many of you are not buying one?

I already participated in my CON pinning ceremony in May. I didn't have my own pin at the time because the CON is unorganized and didn't consider us December grads lol...so I had to borrow one. I am graduating on Saturday (:D) and I have until January 31, 2011 to place an order for one. It's going to be about $74 with tax + S&H. I know some new grads like to wear their pins on their badges at work, but I don't know. I just feel like if I order a pin, it's just going to sit in the box it came in and collect dust! What are your thoughts?

I'll buy one so it can share space in my jewerly box w/ the pin I received when I completed my LPN program.;)

Will they spoon? :)

I've got two (different) sorority pins in my box (one social, one service) that are pretty lonely. Maybe a third (nursing) pin will spice things up a bit. :)

I did just cause I used to collect pins as a kid.

Didn't buy my school pin...got a different one that I liked better. Honestly don't know where it is at the moment.

I bought my school pin for our pinning ceremony (which is tonight!!!!) because I see it as sort of a symbol of accomplishment. To me it says 'I made it through the late nights, early mornings, 13.5 hour practicum days, hard tests, and stress" that go with nursing school.

In addition to the whole spooning thing, I was also convinced to get my nursing pin after reading some of the responses to a thread I started on this very topic.

I graduate in June, and I'll definitely be getting a pin. Like another poster mentioned, I earned it.

Specializes in Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergy.

My school did not have a pinning ceremony. I don't remember if we were ever given an opportunity to order a pin.
