Nursing pharm HELP!

Hello I'm in my second year of nursing school and am taking a required and accelerated 8 week nursing pharm course. I am currently failing and I usually get 90-100 on every nursing test I've had so I know it's not just that I'm in capable of learning. The book we are using is horrible and I want to know if anyone has any suggestions for study guides for nursing pharm that simplify the info without the extra fluff. The tests questions use the nursing process so any study guide that helps with assessment,antidotes, side effects, interventions and precautions in relation to medication would help. Thank you

    I know people suggest this: Nursing Pharmacology Made Incredibly Easy!

    It's a book that really breaks it down. I struggled with pharm and found that I had to write out my notes at least once a day because for the most part it's remembering groups of meds and then just remembering the groups general side effects etc. Word to the wise though: in the future try not to even look at the brand name since NCLEX will be doing away with it soon and only be giving you the generic. The brand name is just a crutch.

    Look in the Student Nurse Assistance forum. There are SEVERAL threads that have links to Pharmacology flash cards and other study aids. You'll find a lot of helpful information. Good luck :)

    I always made my own simple study guides. Categories of drugs and what they were for and then specific drugs and certain nursing implications to remember. I know several people have found helpful things online as well. Pharm is a lot more memorization than most nursing students are used to doing. Luckily, I had a teacher who was very straightforward about what she expected.

    I personally don't care for the "incredibly easy" books.

    I think Lippincott's Illustrated Review of Pharmacology is excellent.
