Pathophysiology excelsior exam

Have any of you taken pathophysiology through Excelsior? What book or study material did you use? I'm finished with the ADN program; but I may as well take what I can towards my BSN while I'm still "enrolled" (lol). Most of the schools I've looked at require Pathophysiology. Since the exam is only 240 with Excelsior...I was thinking of taking it. Any thoughts?

Hey, I was thinking the same thing :) I'm looking for a job now, but everyone wants tons of experience within last 3 years... I have 5 years, but they 10 years old, lol. So, I figured, I might as well use this time to get some classes done.

Anyhow, I looked on half.com for the book that EC recommends.. then I went one (I think) edition down and bought a book for $3 + shipping (around $4). Now I'm waiting :) I already got a shipping confirmation from seller.

Thank you thank you!

I would take an actual course in this subject rather than just an exam, but that is me. I feel I could gain more from a course.

Hi, I just wanted to tell that I passed it last Thursday with an A :) I really liked the book that EC recommends. Exam was not that bad at all, I felt it was about the same difficulty as A&P.

Now to Statistics on Tuesday. Woo-Hoo :) (I'm taking it with Uexcel, it is only $85 for 3 credits)

Thank you for the info. Did you have to read that whole book??? I bought an older version from ebay. Did you just study using the content guide from EC. Is there a corresponding practice exam for patho?

There is a practice exam, but I didn't use it. I didn't read the whole book, I looked trough the book and read the stuff I didn't know. Some of the material I already knew (I learned it while I was studying for nursing exams during the RN program)

Good Luck!

There are 2 practice exams you can purchase directly from EC. Those have always been good indications of how the test will go for me.

Good luck!

Hi wanted to know what book EC recommends. Taking patho test soon and still not sure about things..

I called EC, the other day, to get some questions answered about their RN-BSN program and I got a very nice surprise from them. I got my Unofficial Evaluation done on the spot for free, it was nice not having to pay the $75. They said they have no problem doing it for recent EC grads. Then to apply into the program the only information you will need is you RN license number and the enrollment fee.

So I found out all I need is 5 gen ed courses and 7 nursing courses, the 5 credits for nursing electives is waived for EC grads.

So I guess it's time to start all over again

thanks for the tip steve!

i will call them tomorrow and inquire about this free evaluation for the rn-bsn. i have so many credits so i hope i only have to do very few general ed courses. my graduation for the asn is this coming october 15 so i hope they still do it even though i have not graduated yet.

thanks again,

They will. They did it for me when I finished EC as well. :)
