Finally about the start Excelsior.

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

After after nine years of being a LPN with most of my pre-reqs done I will finally embark on my journey through Excelsior College. I hope and pray this is the right move for me. I have always been a fast, independent learner. I will welcome any encouragement and pointers from any who are going through or finished. I believe many have felt the anticipation and happiness of embarking on a journey that is motivated by me without being at the mercy of many nursing programs wait list or the dread of taking tests in school whether your prepared or not. I am the captain of this ship and do not plan on going overboard.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Congrats on your decision!! :) Advice:

1. Do not sign a contract with a third-party publishing company. Not necessary.

2. Invest in all available EC practice exams. They are so worth every penny!

3. I found it was help to schedule my exam some weeks away, thus giving myself a deadline. Otherwise I might study into oblivion!

4. Don't enroll until you're ready to take the third nursing exam (Chronicity). As an LPN, you'll be able to skip the second exam (Health Differences). When you enroll, you start the clock ticking toward paying your student services annual fee, $440.

5. Use Penn Foster for the Information Literacy exam -- EC's Info Lit class is ridiculously overpriced.

Good luck!!! :) EC was great for me. Opened so many doors I didn't even know existed, seriously.

Thanks so much Lunah! I will be dealing directly with Excelsior college and with so much information with this site success is definately in my path. I look forward to asking more questions as I go further with my journey. Peace be with you.

Take the practice tests.

Buy the main textbooks.

As Lunah said, schedule an exam or you won't study for it.

And congratulations! The RN has opened up so many opportunities.

I wish u well. I'm just finishing up my last pre req for to enter into the LPN program here in IL. I'm really looking forward to it.

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

Good Luck to you! I finished Excelsior Feb 2009. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. Now I am moving on to the RN-BSN program. Do exactly what LunahRN and SueSquatchRN says and you will be successful.
