Excelsior A&P (SCARED!)

You're correct - is it a tough exam because it covers so much information. I took the EC A&P as my first exam. I would suggest you get the free content guide off of EC's website and study off of the guide. I read the A&P book cover to cover. Remember, this is a 6 credit course and it covers a lot of material. As long as you know your material, it's not too bad.

I believe they give you 3 hours and I'm sorry, but I forgot how many questions were on that particular exam. That information should be in the content guide.

Hi- I to took the exam as my first excelsior exam and it was tough. Don't consentrate of the bones and muscles, the ones they ask are obvious. I don't remember what all was on the test although take a practice exam if they have one. It is alot of info. IK'm studing for micro now, does anyone have any pointers?

I am trying to avoid taking in-classroom A&P so I signed up to take Excelsior A&P. I know it is going to be difficult and was wondering if anyone who has taken EC A&P could help me out a little as far as what to expect when I take this exam (signed up for end of December).
How many questions are on the exam and how much time do they give you? They only give 25 test questions on the practice exam.
Is there any particular aspect I should concentrate on?

I took EC's A&P and it was tough but doable. Yalesha is correct in advising you to concentrate more on physiology than anatomy. Go over the content guide and you should do fine.

I took it and it was a bugger. The exam truly was more about physiology than anatomy.

I used Cliff's Notes (Cliff's Quick Review - A & P) as a study tool, in addition to the EC guide. It was a fabulous resource. Here's a link:

I think there were 160 questions which means you can get 30 wrong, I think. I made flash cards with all the stuff in the content guide and it worked well. Alo, I found it very simular to the a and p from my LPN Program which helped. Good Luck

I think EC uses a weighted grade for A&P. Some questions carry more weight than others. Look on the EC website or call them to find out for sure.

EC now offers practice exams on their website for A&P. You receive two practice exams (100 questions long, I think) for about $75. If the A&P exam is like the NC practice exams it contains questions previously used in the actual A&P exam. In fact, using the NC exams, I found a few questions on the practice test and on the real test. I highly recommend purchasing these practice tests. You can't print out the results of the practice exams, but after I completed the practice exams, I went through and made hand written notes on questions I got wrong, or things I needed to study more.

I have finished all EC courses except A&P, and am doing that one now while awaiting a CPNE date. I sure plan on taking advantage of the practice exams for this one! I did Micro first, and that was a tough one too. Good luck!

Yeah you will be fine A&P wasn't too bad. Out of all the Excelsior Test I found Micro to be the most difficult one. Micro either done by testing out or classroom is always difficult.
