I have clepped out of gen. ed. classes that I had taken more than 5 years ago, but if you're doing the Excelsior thing, I would suggest going ahead and getting the study materials, and then taking the required test (for your nursing classes). That way, you know what material to study, and you have a better idea what you'll be tested on. Again, if you're going through Excelsior, if you made at least a B average in your previous nursing classes, and those classes were taken within the last 5 years, you can request a waiver to skip Nsg Concepts 2. I hope this was somewhat helpful.

Hi angelbear,
Clep is run by the college board. It is a way to earn credit by taking a test. You study a subject like intro to psych and then you go to whatever school administers the clep test near you and take the exam. The test can be hard sometimes so you really should study thoroughly. You have to score 50 or higher and most schools will give you 3-6 credits. It's really a way to accelerate your education. Some schools will grant up to 60 credits. If you have more questions, let me know. Here is a link for you http://www.collegeboard.com There is alot of good info on this site.

It's amazing how much money you save by using the clep. What amazes me more is that more people don't take advantage of this option. I guess most people just don't know about it. I have done the clep about 7 times. I think I will clep American Literature next;that's worth a whopping 6 credits. Can't beat the value.

Is anyone taking advantage of clep for either their nursing prequisites or corequisites?
