OK Board of Nursing; Acceptance or Denial???

Nurses Criminal

Published

So, I graduated nursing school March 15, '18. Within a few weeks, all but about 8-10 people in my cohort had received their ATT letters. By mid-April, those of us with arrest records had gotten their letters, except me. It's now May 26th, and I've heard nothing.

I had a laundry list of stuff on my record. Nothing was a felony. The last arrest was 18 years ago. I had some expunged arrests from 13 and 14 years ago that I disclosed, but one was no-billed, and the other was proven innocent. So, I don't know if they're toying with me before they deny me, toying with me before they accept me, or this is just the process.

Should I withdrawal my application so I don't have a BON denial, and apply to Texas, where they don't make you disclose your expunged charges? Am I going to get accepted? Are they going to deny me? Does anyone have any insight or advice? TIA

I doubt that they're "toying" with you. Have you tried contacting them for an update? These things are always reviewed on a case by case basis.

"Toying" may be a poor choice of words, just what it feels like. Yes, i called them about three our four weeks back and told them i felt like they'd forgotten me. He said that I'd probably be up for review next week. So, that week would've been about two or three weeks ago. I just don't want to get denied and then have to mark "yes" for the Texas BON, on the question that reads, "have you ever been denied by a board if nursing." I'm wondering how common my situation is, and what the outcomes of those situations tend to be.

Moved to more appropriate forum. Hopefully some of our wise members will be able to help you figure this out. Best regards!

Not to be a negative Nancy, but I'm in Texas, and our program told us that even those with expunged records would need to fill out a Declaratory Order of Eligibility because it would come back on the background check the BON runs anyway.

Are you in California ? It's just a waiting game. I never called. I just waited patiently. I'm sorry, I know it's tough. I applied beginning of February. About a month later I got a letter asking for all the documents. I started to think they lost it! Then a few more weeks I got a letter only asking for Certified court documents. I sent those. About 5 weeks later I got my ATT.
