Dose BON check school records ?

Nurses Criminal

Yep they will find out about your criminal history and not attending school. You cannot get a job as a nurse because by definition you are not a nurse. Nurses attend accredited institutions of learning then are given permission to sit for that state's boards. If you tried to get a job as a nurse I believe that that would probably put you in a position to catch another charge ... practicing without a license. I wish you well but if you are going to become a nurse then you have to go through all the same stuff the rest of us did

I am so confused by this post. In any case, a lot (if not all) states require fingerprint submission with the application for licensure so not sure if you'll get flagged in the system. And every state I've practiced in the BON sends out a public announcement to all nurses who get in trouble with the board, inevitably every quarter there are a number of people listed for "failure to disclose".

Aside from a your background, in order to be eligible to take the NCLEX you need to have prrof of an accredited nursing school. You do have to prove that you went to nursing school, have the credits, clinical hours that are required to meet the BONs minimum requirement for entrance as a nurse. Your school would have to send records, proof of clinical hours, and attendance and grades.

You will not receive an invitation to take the NCLEX without getting a PTT code - Permission To Test - from the BON. This is sent out after the nursing school attended sends in your credentials in having completed an NCLEX eligible nursing program.

So yes. It is checked and you can't get anywhere near the NCLEX without.

Question: Why not just go to nursing school and do this the right way?

Yeah you are not a nurse. You cannot work as a nurse. If you do you are adding another crime to your resume. If you want to be a nurse you have to go through all the education and clinical experiences that are necessary to sit for the board in your state. Depending on your crime you may not even qualify to be a nurse although I hop that's not the case

Just an FYI it took me almost a month to get my ATT (approval to test). this was after submitting my finger prints, a background check, and my college diploma! there is no way around this.

You can leave whatever you want off a self disclosure statement, however, the BON will still do a criminal background check on you. Also, you have to take and PASS NCLEX-RN to even be licensed...I have a hard time believing anyone could pass that with only "real world experience". And lastly, you say you wrote on an application that you went to a certain school that you never attended, well, that is lying. Good luck to ya!

Even if the BON in your state approved you to take NCLEX-RN (which I don't think they would) I find it hard to believe that anyone could pass it without nursing school. Real world experience might work for a Nurses Assistant simply because that is a more hands-on, skills based job, but not for an RN or LPN. Also, you said that you wrote down a school on your application...um that is flat out lying. Good luck!

Taking and PASSING NCLEX-RN or PN without actually going to nursing school...uh good luck! Also, you stated that you wrote down a school on your application! How is that not a lie?

Self disclosure means you need to do just that. It doesn't mean that the BON or a potential employer will not do a background check. Then they will see that you again...lied.

You may be a great nurse one day, however you need to go to school first and then pass NCLEX. I just cannot see this turning out the way you want it to going this route.

All the little tasks you did or read about do not make you a nurse.

Mavrick I did much more then "little tasks". I also did much more then school classes and field trips..

I would run parts of the hospital ward. I would tell the CNAs what to do and organize the entire show while the nurses from the outside slept, watched tv and did manicures.

I was also the main nurse in my block. When people got sick they came to me.

School do not hold a light to my real experience. In the day people learned trades by experience. Now society is weak and corrupt kids sit in school and pay money for careers. Olde school right here.

The profession of Nursing does not need people like you to dilute our integrity. A lot of what we do is based on trust. That is an internal monitoring of doing the right thing not because you are afraid of getting caught but because it is doing the right thing.

You want to talk about trust ?

In prison you do not just go to the hospital. You have to ask some fat inbred guard to talk to a nurse and see is you might be able to get some help. Many time people do not make past the fat inbred pig to help. That's when I helped and I also acted as a trusted liaison.

People trust me in bad situations. Do you know why I did 8 years ? Because I don't rat on people. When things get tough most people cannot be trusted. The ones that can are what trust is about.

Criminal history aside I do not think you can take the test required to become a licensed nurse. States require that you graduated from an accredited school of nursing before you can take the NCLEX. There might be a way...

kbrn2002 There is ALWAYS a way. When you say there is not you limit yourself and others that might listen to you.

OK guys I have a serous question ..? I have a copy deplomia from a school it has my name on it. Will BON or NCLEX call to confirm I went to that school ?

This is a joke, right?

Of course you have to go to nursing school to be a nurse. You don't have even half the knowledge needed to be a satisfactory provider without formal education. On top of that, concealing your criminal history isn't exactly the smartest idea either. I can't think of any logical rationale for allowing you to get your RN without ANY former schooling--doesn't take a nurse to realize that.
