Non license/certification hospital Jobs

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi to all the nurses out there,

I am a registered nurse in the other country and moved here in Los Angeles Area after I took the nursing exam. And basically I have no hospital experience when I moved in the US and Im still not taking an NCLEX exam yet (and i think my money is inefficient too to process my application)

My question is, is there a hospital jobs somewhere here in the united states (LA county) where I can apply that doesn't require a license and certification but only a BSN holder? I just wanted to get a job so badly and i wanna have a hospital experience in the US so I can be more familiar with it :( thank you in advance

There are jobs that don't require a license or certification, but your degree is irrelevant without a nursing license. You will not be able to work in any capacity as a nurse until you hold a license. You can work in a role of unlicensed assistive personnel, such as a unit clerk or patient care assistant (terminology varies; in my facility, these are people who do not hold CNA certification but are able to do some parts of patient care, such as positioning, bathing, etc.).

Thank you for replying on my thread. It really helps me a lot í ½í¸Š Is unit clerk and unit secretary are the same?i searched patient care assistant and unit secretary in some online Job Search near my area and most of them are also requiring a BLS card holder, hmm maybe i need to take a BLS training first before applying :/ while some are requiring a 6 mos - 1 year patient experience ( I wonder if they are accepting a non paid experiences like clinical rotation that I had before when im still a student hehe) thank you so much.

BLS is an 8-hour class the first time and a 4-hour class to renew.

Clinical experience does count towards actual work experience that job postings require.

Good luck.

Yeah i also included it in my resume too :) i put related learning experience/non working experience for my clinical experience. I just also finished the BLS class and currently doing a job hunting for PCA and unit secretary, hope i get any of those. Thank you so much for replying and have a wonderful day :)

Source for this claim? In any job posting I've seen, experience is only counted if it was as a licensed nurse, not clinicals as a student.

Thank you for pointing this out! I wondered why OP seemed happy with my response.

That was a typo (I suspect my phone autocorrected incorrectly), but it won't let me edit. Clinical experience does NOT count towards work experience.
