Follow up thank you note..

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

So today I had an interview for my dream job, I've been trying for 5 years just to get an interview so I'm excited I finally got the opportunity! My question is, I would like to send a thank you email to the unit director and nursing supervisor since that was who I interviewed with. The problem is I was not given their direct emails. I have the nurse recruiter's email address but he did not actually sit in the interview. He met me before hand, gave me a folder with the benefits package, walked me over to the hospital where the interview was taking place, kind of gave me a run down of how the interview would go, and then waited with me until the director and supervisor arrived. At the end of the interview the director told me that if I thought of any questions later on that I should contact the recruiter and he could pass my questions on.. So how do I go about sending a thank you note? Do I send just one to the recruiter?

Would it be appropriate to email the recruiter and request the email addresses for the director and supervisor?

In hindsight I should have requested their business cards but I was a ball of nerves and didn't think about it.

Also, is it a bad sign that there was no mention of a job shadow or tour of the unit? The director made mention of another meeting that they were scheduled to attend less then 15 min after my interview ended and actually my interview went longer then expected and there were people waiting to get in the conference room when we finished up.. The director did walk me all the way down to the exit (three floors down) and I think the end of the interview got rushed since they had another meeting and we were supposed to be done in the conference room before we actually were..

You should skip the email and send handwritten thank you notes by snail mail, anyway. Best wishes!

I did not send thank you notes, mainly because I could not remember all their names. But I got two job offers...when they want you, they'll ignore formalities.

I'm not sure how I'd address the envelopes if I mailed them each a card... I interviewed with the unit director and supervisor of a big hospital, the main campus consists of 5 huge buildings!

If it were me, I would call the HR person and ask how best to address the envelopes to ensure they will get the notes as promptly as possible (you don't want the notes floating around within the internal mail system for a couple weeks before they finally get delivered). Best wishes!

I did a little of my own research and found the director's and supervisor's full names which is what their email addresses would be: [email protected]... Not too hard..
