Hi just want to start a new thread regarding filipino nurses seeking employment outside the country. Can someone recommend "best countries" for a filipino nurse to work aside from canada and new zealand? currently im applying as a staff nurse at saudi arabia, as we all know, middle east is the most sought after country for a novice like me. i just want to prepare ahead of time cause im not planning to stay too long in saudi. i would probably just finished my 2 yrs. contract then seek employment in an 'open country'. thanks. hope we can exchange views fellow RNs! I would also like to willingly share my experiences in applying abroad as an OFW :)

You have to take English exam for the UK if you trained outside of the EU. There is no waiver and even people where English is their first language have to do it

Do you need to apply in a philippine based reruitment agency to work in UK? how much money did you spend on processing all the necessary documents? I've also read an article that some filipino UK nurses are applying to new zealand since UK has a high cost of living.like every move you make has an equivalent tax! :***:

also, do you think a nurse can land a job in a hospital in UK, if his/her nursing experience in KSA is in dermatology or dental clinic? Thanks!

Hi im working in oman a year ago (technically a month ago-dec2014), and got my cap placement in auckland this month. Well based from what i saw, read and heard regarding canada and nz, well canada is the best country for you if your still young and just starting in your nursing profession. Because before you can practice as a regnurse, you need to pass their exam. Taking their exam is not a walk in the park so you need an immigrant visa for it in order to stay longer and take your chances. This spells trouble for old experienced nurses for they need to support themselves working in a blue collar job until they get a license and work as a nurse. Thats the reason i didnt take that path. On the other hand, nz is much more easier, you will need to undergo a bridging program for almost 3 mos, get registered and work immediately as a nurse. This is also same for australia but based from their economic condition, they're still decreasing their unemployment rate and this could spell problem for internationally qualified nurses. Hope i gave you some insights.

Sure bootsrn. First I searched for the requirements on how internationally qualified nurses can apply in nz. You need to undergo a bridging program where they convert your local nursing license to their own. But before that the council should find you eligible based from their set standards. It consists of stage one and two. Once you satisfactorily completed their requirements, they will send you a cap letter in which you will use for your 3 mos schooling. This is the only way you can become a nz rn. Im currently in the middle of my cap program and will be finishing by march. Hope this helped.

Hi, Nursing is and always have been a bright career option. Many parts of the world provide many number of nursing jobs. Almost every part of the world is in need of skilled nurses. Apart from Canada and New Zealand, there are many other countries where practicing nursing can be the best. According to current scenario, USA is in need of skilled nursing professionals. So, Australia, UK, USA can be considered the best option as there is a high demand of trained professionals. You can choose from them as per your choice.

The predicted shortage in the USA has been met already with enough supply of nationally trained nurses, so an international nurse will have a harder time obtaining sponsorship for employment.

I applaud your optimism but any country will have requirements in order to be able to practice, so is not as easy as saying " they need nurses any nurse will do" First you need to have a valid/transferable nursing degree, then you need to pass whatever licensing exam is in place for that country, and then you need an employer to Sponsor you.
