Tweety....
You absolutely, 100%, ROCK!!!!!!!! Sometimes..these doc's just have to be put in their place!!! That was a wonderful thing for you to say to them!!! I think sometimes doc's get soooo wrapped up in their own stuff....that they forget that we literally are their ears, eyes, nose, etc...when they aren't around. It is soooooo true that nurses play probably the biggest role in patient outcome. Once again Tweet....you rock!! :balloons:

You guys would be proud of me. Dr. B who is on consult says to Dr. A the primary "your patient really has improved in one day you cured him! His lungs sound so clear today" Dr. A says "No it's your help with the antibiodics that helped." "No, my antibiodics couldn't have helped that fast."
I shut them both up and interupt "It's my diligent nursing care that improved him. If I hand't been on top of his low urine output, if I hadn't been diligent about turning and nasotrach suctioning him, his lungs would still be sounding crappy. (No one NT suctions like me, I have a gift there). So it's nurses that cured him."
They both looked dumbfounded, laughed and acknowledged that I was indeed correct, that it was the nursing care that made a difference.
Every now and then I need to be reminded, as burned out and fried as I am right now, that I do make a difference. We all do. :balloons:
