Every so often I'll hear lyrics on songs on the radio that remind me of nursing... Here's a couple of examples I've heard on the radio recently, unfortunately I can't remember who sings either of 'em...:monkeydance:
"I am barely breathing, and I can't find the air..."
"I have become, comfortably numb..."
Anyone got any more?
Poison by Alice Cooper, reminding me of the ETOHers that come in and their alcoholism is killing them
The Romantics- "I hear the secrets that you keep, when you're talking in your sleep"
U2-Kite- "Something is about to give, I can feel it coming, I think I know what it is, I'm not afraid to die, I'm not afraid to live, and when I'm flat on my back, I hope to feel like I did" - reminds me of comfort care patients who have accepted their terminal illness, and their family has, too
think its called 'Higher Love', by Steve Winwood. When he sings 'bring me a higher love' my Mum says it sounds like 'bring me an iron lung!!'
also the balck parade by my chemical romance, all based on the journey of a patient. Of course its a wee bit dark!! I love that band but I was always wondering why they kept going on about hospital beds, pills and ambulances...swore it was just the nursing course getting to me!!
:)
Some country song & I can't even remember who sings it...if you're going through hell keep on moving
face that fire, walk right through it
you might get out
'fore the devil even knows you're there.
...course that kind of applies to life in general at this point!!
Rodney Atkins sings that song.
A couple of songs that come to mind are: Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi ...when you find your medicine you take what you can get cause if theres something better baby well they havent found it yet.
Then theres the song by Rascall Flatts called Sarah Beth. (I work on an oncology floor and it reminds me of how scared the patients are right after learning they have cancer.)
