I just finished a nurse aide class that is a prerequisite for nursing school this fall. The worst part was the bed-making. Vital signs? No problem. Complete bed bath? A breeze. Catheter care? Easy. Mitered corners? Total disaster. I practiced and practiced in our lab. Others in the class tried to help, but I always end up with many pleats across the end of the bed.
This is probably because I rarely make my own bed (I only use a bottom fitted sheet and if I even use a top cover it's only one layer - I fight the covers all night long if there is more than one).
I know patients/residents need a nicely made, wrinkle-free bed and I really want to give that to them, but I just haven't been able to get a handle on that yet. I'm still practicing - I'm not giving up yet.

It takes time. Just keep practicing. I had trouble getting the hospital corners down too but eventually I got the knack of it. Maybe you could ask for tips from one of the more experienced CNA's for tips. That is what I did and it really helped. You will get it.
