Nursing grads and job prospects

Published

Firstly, congrats to all you newly minted nurses! Now I would like to ask if any of you looking for jobs out there have noticed any problems with finding jobs? I have seen a lot of troubling news on various posts about new grads having a tough time find a job in this area. I wonder if the BSNs are having as tough a time (a least from what I've "seen" on these posting) as the ADNs at landing a position. Just curious...I would appreciate any comments!

I'm a diploma RN grad here in PA and I've had absolutely no trouble whatsoever getting hired as a new nurse or finding work

I live in the Philly Burbs and had 2 job offers to choose from. I just graduated in May and did not take my NCLEX yet.

I just graduated from an ASN program last month and went on interviews for 4 different positions, of which I was offered 3 out of the 4 jobs. We were told to start applying for jobs back in mid Jan, which I did, but I only heard back from one hospital. Although I did get that job, they told me that they don't usually hire new grads that early. I continued to apply for many, many positions and didn't start hearing back from hospitals until the end of April. I didn't land my "dream job" (that was the only job I didn't get), but I'm starting out in the ICU where I know I'm going to learn a lot.

I am a new grad. from an ADN program. Haven't yet taken my boards. Have applied to five med-surg related positions, in DE, MD, and PA and have had 0 call backs. I am already licensed as a PN and have over a year of experience which hasn't helped me any. I have even tried calling and pretty much get the "Please continue to update your application ONLINE".
