Nursing Diagnosis

Published

Hello nurses,

I need a list of Neonatal nursing diagnosis. I have to do 3 care plans and I don't know much about newborns.

I would appreciate your help, thank you.

So you're saying that you "have to" do 3 neonatal care plans just for the heck of it? But it's not homework?

The list of NANDA-approved nursing diagnoses is only about a page long. How hard is it to glance through that list and find something you would think appropriate for a newborn?

You don't have to be a parent or otherwise familiar with babies to be able to figure it out. Use your brain and critical thinking skills.

You say you're "not looking for answers" but then you go on to say you are looking for some examples. Um...

Your problem is "assuming" how do you know that I know what NANDA is?

You just mentioned it 5 mins ago, and just so you know not everybody trusts google, I asked for nurses to help.

Stop acting like you are related to Einstein and stop assuming that people are stupid and can't read a page or 2.

That is true, I do know many nursing dx for adults and not any for newborns but just because I am asking for examples it does not mean it is homework, I just want to learn and I have asked many questions here beforethis is not the first time. I just don't like it when people assume every question here is about homework. Of course I looked over my old books before I posted here, my goal is to learn and If I can't find something on my own I will ask questions, I don't want to die ignorant. If there are student out there who post their homework questions , they must have courage and trust because I would never trust anybody here to do my homework( you never know who posts here and you won't know if it is the right answer) and I would never take that chance.

Anyway, ignore this question people assume too much instead of helping.

Exactly what kind of help were you looking for then, since we weren't helping you do your homework?

Did I ask you to do my care plans? Care plans are much more than diagnosis just in case you didn't know.

Listing dx is not homework ok hon...go and sleep now

I have no idea what you're trying to say.

NANDA: North American Nursing Diagnosis Association

I.E. The group that came up with the whole "nursing diagnosis" thing. I find it a bit disconcerting that a nursing student would not know what NANDA is. By googling "NANDA Nursing Diagnosis" you will get the comprehensive list of nursing diagnoses. Like I said, the list is not so long that you couldn't peruse it in just a couple minutes (I only know this because my health assessment textbook has the comprehensive list printed on the back cover and my RN husband and I were laughing at some of the more ridiculous ones just the other day).

If you're required to come up with nursing diagnoses as part of your schooling, then your nursing texts should have the complete list of diagnoses (as well as at least a passing mention of NANDA). My recommendation is to look through your textbook at the list of diagnoses.

If you are a nursing student, you had absolutely better know what NANDA is...sooner, rather than later.

Knowing how to state a nursing diagnosis in appropriate format is the first step to writing a care plan, so yes, it is doing your homework.

And do not EVER PM me again to insult me. If you have something to say to me, say it here, where our conversation is taking place.

That's why I am paying $50,000 tution so they can teach me and by the way not all schools teach NANDA right away and not everybody knows that NANDA diagnosis can be found online. When they teach me that's when I will know it. Were you all super smart and knew it all when you were students? You learned NANDA and now that might be your best friend but you probably didn't know other things.

If you're required to do a nursing diagnosis, then you have been taught about NANDA. They are the ones who came up with nursing diagnoses.

Calm down, get over it I said. If you don't want to help go and do something else. I am not going to die if you don't help me.

We HAVE been helping you. You now know what NANDA is (which is a big step in becoming familiar with nursing diagnoses), and you know that the approved list of NDs is not that long, and should be in your nursing textbook (if not, you can find the list online), and it should not be difficult to find an appropriate ND for a newborn.
