State NA memberships - where you live? Or where you work?

I live and work in different states. I have a membership in the nursing association where I live, but have been feeling a bit proactive about where I work. I feel like where I live, I can impact the care received by me and my family, but where I work, I could improve work conditions.

Any of you have memberships to both? If not, which do you choose? I'm just curious. I'm starting to feel like I could go broke just joining organizations, there are so many!

I live and work in the same state. I am not a member of my state's nursing association. I am, however, a member of my specialty organization and NNU. I opted for the specialty organization because it's most associated with my day to day job and NNU because it's much more in touch with the bedside nurse. I don't really have the funds for more memberships. It would be nice if licensure fees included membership into the state nursing organization.

Membership in your State Nurses Association, includes membership in to ANA. Unless, you live in California. where, about 10 years ago, the California Nurses Association withdrew from the ANA.

The Michigan Nurses Association, Maine State Nurses Association, Massachusetts Nurses Association, and Minnesota Nurses Association left the ANA and joined NNU.

The New York State Nurses Association is no longer ANA either.

Perhaps others that i don't know about.

When I signed up for ANA, my home state was associated so I included it. Perhaps I should look up my work state now that you guys have brought this up.
