NURSING HOME FIRM CHARGED IN DEATHS MAKES DEAL, AVERTS MANSLAUGHTER TRIAL; COMPANY AGREES TO PAY $ 60,000 FINE, END MANAGEMENT OF HOME

A nursing home operator agreed Monday to pay a $ 60,000 fine and quit managing an Ohio home, averting a manslaughter trial in the case of four residents who died after a nitrogen tank was mistakenly hooked up to the oxygen system.

Boy that's bizarre! here in Ca all the o2 tanks are green- I guess I figured that was a universal code. These poor people must have been dead in 10 minutes...

$60K for 4 deaths? That's not so bad. They probably paid their attorney more than that just to broker this deal, which presumably also protects them from family civil suits. Hope this didn't hurt their stock price.

OMG, that's a tragic story, how sad. $60,000 doesn't seem like a lot really for four deaths. I was wondering too if Civil suits could still be filed:stone
