I'm currently working VERY part-time doing admissions for my skilled-nursing facility. Physically I'm fair-to-middling, but I can't do anything that requires handling multiple demands at one time, good short-term memory, or thinking fast on my feet---I get distracted too easily and have memory issues. This situation gives me the 1:1 time with patients that I enjoy and absolves me of responsibility for them once I hand them off to the charge nurse. Perhaps you could give something like this a try?
bskelton, every nursing home admits residents, and the lengthy admission assestsment is always a time constraint on staff..... some of the nursing homes in my area use "an admission nurse"
something you might consider is weejend RN supervisor....8 hr sat and sunday i hope this information helps you
Thanks. I am unfortunately, without med-surg experience. My last 2 jobs were doing nurse manager at Assisted Living and Specialty Care (Dementia unit). Before that, office nurse for pediatrics. I haven't worked in a hospital since 1994!!! I am keeping my ears open and putting out the word that I am looking for something very part-time or PRN. Would like to do fulltime but think I could handle that unless it was telephone work. I am hoping that something will be at right time, right place. Thanks!

Hi, I am 53 years old and currently on disability due to back injuries, DDD, sciatica and some other stuff I can't remember. I went back to work for nearly 2 years, but I ended up having to go back on disability. My husband does not make a great wage, and my benefit is not very high. I need to try to work about 8-10 hours per week in a position that does not include lifting, prolonged standing or walking lengthy halls. I also have radiculopathy down both arms and have great pain in shoulders, arms and hands which can include a tremor at times. I've only done nursing my whole life, but have never done med-surg and haven't worked in a hospital since 1994. I am having a hard time trying to figure out what I could possibly do, if anybody would even have me. Is anybody in same situation or does anyone have ideas for extreme part-time work (doesn't have to be in nursing or medical). Need some ideas!! Sorry for being so long and I appreciate any ideas. Thank you!!
