has anyone else picked on this....
with the reorganisation of PCT's, they will become commissioning bodies and will not employ anyone.
this means community nurses will be employed by GP's or foundation hospital trusts. GP practices may expand to take on commissioning roles and hospitals are looking at moving into primary care!
Mark Jones said ' nurses dont object to having different employers. but there must be assurances nurses would be paid adgenda for change rates' (why........ I dont get AfC rates in my practice- I get more!)
Lucy Botting chair of the RCN district nurse forum said 'she feared everything is about money'............ shes right!!
so... looks like the DN's and HV's are about to join me in working for a practice............. should be very interesting!!

Thats interesting....im about to start my HV course in just over 3 weeks and being sponsored by a PCT. i wonder what will happen then when i become a HV. Not sure how things will change as i have never worked in community i have just left a foundation hospital, so i would be interested to see how in affects everyone.

Hi Karen
Don't get independant nurse. Is there a web link???
well... its not going to happen until 2008 but its looking very much as though you would be in the same postion as me... ie working for a gp. unless groups of nurses band together and offer their services as a Plc. Its going to interesting... as an NP employed by a group practice, I negotiate my pay and conditons. I am unaffected by AfC........... I dont get cost of living allowance, dont get London weighting and didnt get paid unsiocal hours for the odd sat I work (that changed when i said no pay.. no sat working)
I think the GPs would love it... getting their own nurses!! in a lot of ways they are better employers..if you find a good one.
however... there are implications for education and training... at present in my area its put on by the Universitys.. and the education consortium provide the money. not sure whats going to happen.
actually........no-one really knows what is going to happen...............!

How did you find working for a foundation hospital? I am working on an assignment and would like to hear your feelings on the topic. At the end of the day and different from normal NHS trust? Thanks :balloons:
im sorry i cant really help you there as our hospital had only been a foundation hospital for a few weeks and then i went on mat leave. Im not returning to the foundation hospital as i have got sponsorship to do my HV course and being sponsored by PCT. Good luck with your assignment. :)
