Not an easy thing to quit. (I don't smoke anymore though).

Well... smoking is a very diffilcult habit to break once you get into it. It can't just be defeated intellectually. I have smoked on and off for years (most recently I have quit for the last 4). It is an unhealthy resort and I have no legitimate excuse.

It's legal and I like it. Won't do it forever, don't smoke in front of non-smokers.
Seeing the countless COPD patients and chronic lungers should drive anyone to quit....It just amazes me to see nurses and respiratory therapist who smoke...You know your fate....
It amazes me more to see pulmologists smoke.
I mean, of all people to know.......

Bob it amazes me as well. But trust me, it's going to go to a "who are you to judge, it's a free country, it's my body, are you perfect?....etc. etc. etc." There have been numerous smoking and obesity related threads that have gone like this. :)
I will say this....if they ever came out with a pill or shot and said this will immediately make you quit smoking without any severe side effect or you wouldn't have to suffer withdrawel, I wouldn't be able to roll my sleeve up fast enough or grab a glass a water and say "Give it to me! "
I do enjoy, know it ain't good for me, but do want to quit someday.

Smoking is proven to cause lung cancer........
Unprotected sex, you are playing russian roulette with diseases and pregnancy, but not guarenteed.......
The same could go with occasional drinking and the diet.........But smoking is proven.

im not saying to take away smoking.. even though i think they should.
im stating as to why a nurse, one who is highly educated, and experiences what smoking does to a person, smoke.
Bob, I know exactly what you're saying. I'm only saying, based on experience, how these threads can go.
It baffles the mind that those in the healing arts don't practice what they know. Especially when it comes to something as devasting as smoking. I'm guilty of a few bad habits myself but mercifully don't smoke.
