Nurses Week Gift Jackpot!

Published

This time last year, we were all commiserating on a forum about pitiful nurses week gifts (or not getting a gift at all).

At my new job, I think I've hit the mother load. It's like hospital-branded Christmas.

Hospital-wide gift is a blanket with a logo-emblazoned *portable folding lawn chair*. They're sending it to our houses. Unit-based gift (which I've never even received before!) was a personally-monogrammed jacket (yay!) with the unit logo, erasable pens, a Starbucks gift card (!) and a candy bar.

I think they're trying to distract us from the fact that they pay $3-$7 less per hour than the competitor hospitals in the area. Still, it's very much appreciated.

Various little gifts each day of the week. I’ve came out with a nurse’s week t-shirt, hospital branded lunch box and Bluetooth speaker, assorted candy, pins, bath salts, and key chain. Wednesday they had food trucks, music, bingo, and hospital branded water bottles.

My first nurses week, I think I made out pretty well. Plus May is Oncology month so we start Oncology unit gift stuff this week.

Unfortunately according to the IRS, gift cards and cash from an employer are taxable.

A starbucks gift card is excluded. see the complete list,it is not a car. If It has minimal value it is excluded. Enjoy your gifts everyone.

Food, food, food, and more FOOD! Plus, more food on top of that!

Cupcakes, brownies, cake, pizza, nachos, fruit bowls, parfaits, apples, oranges, bananas, virgin mimosas, strawberries, plus a ton of other stuff that individual people brought each day M-F this past week. So, more food.....and then some. Food on the way in to the building, food down in the cafeteria, food in the breakrooms.
