Ok I am FREAKING OUT

Nurses Recovery

Ok.. So I have done a total of 5 drug tests... everything has been grand, all negative. Until this one. I don't know why. I did have to take an antibiotic for a UTI. I mean.. I think I tested about a week after I was done. I wouldn't think I would test positive for anything.. I didn't even think to fax them the prescription. Which If I can remember correctly it was Keflex. I was googling it and it said possibly cocaine. Idk. I am freaking out. The other thing, I tested after I left the gym, but only made had 1 water bottle. Maybe not even that. How much trouble am I in?!?!?!?!

- I also emailed the leader of the CANDO program as I have emailed her in the past and asked how I need to correct this. I also just started a new job. I don't want to mess anything up. I am so scared.

Here they never tell you what you test positive for. At least not initially. They use any positive as a mechanism to try to get you to confess to some particular use. That threaten if you are not "honest" they will essentially kick you out of the program and thus you will lose your nursing license. This is what happened to me. However, I didn't use anything so I refused to make a false confession. Very Stressful!!! Only after this charade did they start dropping hints to what I tested positive for. After that the matter was dealt with pretty quickly. I know one woman who was pressured into confessing to drug us under this scenario but she didn't know what to confess to so she said that she smoked some Pot. However, the test was positive for cocaine. In this case the monitoring board then believed that she was using both substances when she used neither. She was two years into a three year contract and she had to start all over. Rehab included. This is a strange world we inhabit in monitoring land.

Oh my dear God, that's completely my worst nightmare.

Yeah I was always pooping my pants about the false positive. When this happened it got worse. All's I can say is don't confess. From what I've seen coming clean if you used leads to the exact same punishment. Never ever get talked into a false confession because they will just burn you with it. Once again this isn't a therapeutic relationship or recovery. Its an adversarial relationship and retribution

I was honestly thinking that earlier... I wish I would just let them post what I did and move on. Idk. Also, I just started a new job. I haven't told them about it yet, I just started Monday I know I need to. Its nothing to do with bedside nursing. Its Laser hair removal and facial injections, which I have done in the past. The company I am working for knows about my situation and are fine with it. Do I still need to inform them of my job even if I am doing nothing with like narcotics?

You should have an order that directs you on this. Are you using the RN in your title and your job? If so....I think, assuming that the order directs you to, that you have to tell them. I'm sorry this is stressing you out. Hang in there.

So they just emailed me now through my recovery trek and said please contact the board thanks.

At least it's a start of some communication...wow. That's everyone's worst nightmare. We are here for you to vent, ask questions, whatever. Keep us posted!

Best wishes,

Jxo, You have my prayers. Good Luck to you!!!

Ok guys l. So she finally called me back. Sa8d I was positive for alcohol. They said I need to do some blood test to see about a months worth of my activity I guess. And and MRO is going to contact me. I guess I did have a glass of wine about a week after that drug test. She asked me I had anything I said no. I'm so sick of admitting ****. Idk if it matters that I'm very active.. I'm like 107lbs and 5'3. So.. do I admit it? Do I let them take my blood and not say anything?

I drank thst glass of wine after that test.. So idk what made me positive.

The blood test is most likely a PETH test... it detects binge drinking within the past 3 weeks. By binge, I mean like 5 or more drinks within that time period. Look it up. Of course I cannot advise you to lie or be dishonest, but I can give you info on what blood test they are probably doing and what it would detect. Good luck!

Was it EGT or ethanol which option was it?

Blood Test is almost certainly PETH. Serum Alcohol would be of no use. Yeah my understanding is that one drink won't show up on a PETH so I'd admit nothing
