What does everyone do on New Year's Eve? This will be my first one since getting c&s. My husband and I usually don't have any exciting plans but we always end up with friends at someone's house...drinking of course. I never did care for the NYE thing and esp. this year. I honeslty want to just go to bed at my usual time and pretend it's just like any other weekday night. Tuesday (tomorrow) I have group so that will be good to go to.

Thanks.

I'll be working the day before and the day after, so it will be just like any other day, except I'll be getting paid holiday time. I scheduled work so that I wouldn't have to worry about what I'm doing that night. :)

I always volunteer to work as I never did like the bar scene. (drinking was not my DOC) I work 12 hour nights so I am safe at work before dark and don't go home until daylight. My sponsor would like for me to go to the local NA dance and speaker meeting they have every year but I am still uncomfortable going to things like that. (part of my past we are working on) She would like for me to be able to pick up my keytag that night as new years eve is my clean date. 3 years this time.

all of my kids stay home and we play board games all night and eat goodies...keeps everyone safe

Oh, please. Spare me Amateur Hour. ;)

Seriously, my old area AA has a HUGE sober dinner/dance (from when I was in a city).

Stay home. Make a feast and eat your calories instead of drink them.

I'm learning my way around this site and like the way it's set up. Also, new to recovery and this will be my first sober holiday season. Instead of going where there will be drinking,I'd opt for a meeting or two or three. And I'd do that regardless of any possible argument from friends or family. My recovery has become my full time job and obsession !

Glad to have you join Allnurses, Rascal. Keep posting! :wlcmggrp:

I've heard alcoholism described as a disease of MORE and that certainly applies to me. I never did drink to excess on New Years Eve but we have always had shrimp and dip. And I always get so much that we have some left over. That way there is always enough. This will be my 17th sober New Years Eve and recently my husband hasn't even bothered to get chanpagne for himself (he's obviously not one of us) so I'll toast the new year in with diet creme soda (my sober drink of choice). Happy sober New Year to all!
