is there anyone on here who's into fitness? if so, while you were/are in school did you find time to get to the gym?

i am currently bulking, and my greatest fear is not being able to continue lol. i know this sounds ridiculous but if you into fitness and lifting weights you'd know my fears.

is it possible with all the time into studying or working?

I am not in the nursing program yet, but I do work full time and have done all my pre-reqs. I absolutely made sure that I made time for exercise. It keeps your body healthy and stress free (or rather less stress free, lol.) Obviously, your mind is included in that package. I'm hoping that it will be my "release" while in school. Even if its just 30 minutes on the treadmill 3 days a week. Its better than nothing. You have to make time for yourself in school. Otherwise, you could be hurting yourself in the long run ya know? During a summer accelerated Anatomy and Physiology course I found myself putting my exercise on the backburner and my BP slowly started incressing. Im assuming this was from all the stress and anxiety during that time. Never gonna do that to myself again. lol.

I use to be into fitness but had no time for it this last semester. Part of it was I started smoking again and don't have the lung capacity. This semester ends in a couple of weeks and I am planning on quitting smoking and getting back in the gym. I have signed up for boot camp classes too. I am going to make a plan to exercise once school starts too. I need a healthy release from school!

well i am hoping i can keep on this track. definitely don't want my school work to hinder or my fitness goals to hinder also. i guess this is all a balancing act. thanks for answering though!

You can do it. Im a seasonal body builder and I always wake up 2 hours early to hit the gym. 1 hour goes to lifting, 30 minute goes to slow pace treadmill work and 30 minutes stretching/showering. You just have to keep yourself disciplined. I don't see any other excuses a person can make saying they gain weight soley due to school.

bulking? just eat some fiber and that should clear right up

What time do you have clinicals? We need to be at the hospital at 0630 and I'm already getting up at 0500 for that....your schedule would have me getting up at 0300...

I used to be in lifting/fitness big time before I entered nursing school. I used to lift 3-4 days a week heavily for about 2 hours at at time. But due to nursing school, I really haven't been able to find a job which means I can't afford to go to the gym and I've essentially become fat.

I do find time to lift on the school gym's crappy equipment but that doesn't really do anything for me. Hopefully if I get a summer job, I will try to get back into shape like I was before I entered the nursing program.

I would wake up at 4am start my workout at 430 finish at 630 and will get to clinicals at 650 Cus it starts at 7am for us.

School isn't so bad really. If I were like all the kids in class and just went to school I'd be at the gym probably two hours a day easy. It's doing that and going to work that become difficult. Throw those two in with a 40 minute commute, and it sucks my daylight. I still run because I can do that at any time, and I don't need anything to do it except for my feet. I do a P90X disc when I get an off day, and that throws in some diversity. I've finished it in totality once before. I'll be working out more this summer because I'll have free days since they're wasting time by not holding classes.

I agree that it is possible but you have to be really disciplined. I kind of forced myself to become an auditory learner by listening to lectures while I ran. This semester I did a road race and I made sure to schedule it on a weekend where I didn't have anything major for the next few days (and definitely no tests that week!) and it worked out fine. I thought my exercise made me more focused, although I started drinking more coffee to stay awake once my mileage increased! The biggest change for me was that I had to make school a priority over running, because I always had the thought in the back of my mind that if I injured myself training (like torn Achilles, etc) I could be out of my clinical. So, it is also a balancing act.
