Nurses now responsible for unplugging toilets on their floors!!

Published

Man, was I a tad upset at work today. We are having this busy day with admissions and discharges like crazy. The nice old man in Rm 3-- told me his toilet was plugged. I paged maintience. They called back and the ward clerk told them what we needed. Their reply was: "Don't you know how to use a plunger?" Talk about being pi**ed off!! I nearly went into orbit! I told the ward clerk to tell maint they could kiss my a** because I was taking care of patients and unclogging toilets was not in my job description and hell would freeze first!!! It would be different if it was the middle of the night, and maint wasn't there, but for crying out loud this was when they were there!! Luckily, my supervisors backed me up on THIS issue!! So, watch out. This may be added to your job description!!!:( :( :( :( :( :(

Hmmmmm.

I believe the correct response would have been......

"No, I don't kind sir, and if you would Please come up here and do it I would SO appreciate it and then you can KISS MY A$$."

Said with a big toothy grin of course.

Seriously, maybe the doofus was trying to "banter casually" with the nursing staff he so admires......NAH

you should have told him

no i dont know how to unclog them

but i do know how to clog them

see you in a few minutes then

One of the nurses flushed a facecloth down the toilet at my hospital and it went down slick as shit.:D So that hasn't come up, but rest assured that the buck stops with nursing and if it needs to be done we are fair game for every dept.:(

I think I would have told him to put that plunger where the sun don't shine.:D

If he ever said that to me, I would manage to plug up at least one toilet everyday, immediately after he sat down to lunch!

I think I would just have asked him a whole buncha stupid questions..

1. Is the toilet that big round white thing?

2. What, exactly, is a plunger?

3. What do I do with said plunger?

4. What are all those things floating in the brown water?

5. Is that LEGAL??

LOL

At my hospital, we don't even have toilet plungers on the floor anywhere. On the off shifts, you'll never guess who plunges the toilets.......................SECURITY!!!!!
