I am coming back to this forum, after being away for many years, to communicate this message to you:
Are you kidding me? Why is this profession on "blast" everywhere? Every Instagram post has some covid/nursing/hero quote within it. Nurses are now dancing all over tik tok? Do you think this is cool? Do you think this is what professionalism is about? It is to the point where I am almost ashamed of being a nurse; our traditional nurse leaders are rolling over in their graves. Have humility, stop talking bad / complaining about how awful your jobs are. You came into this profession, probably for the $ and cause every other post on facebook influenced you. This is all part of the agenda: flood hospitals with nurses to drive down wages, make working conditions worse, and pay less. Basic supply/demand strategy used by all corporations to make their workers replaceable). There are plenty of good nurses out there, I am sure. I am just disgusted by the profession's turn: Nurses are shaking all their goods for social media; nurses have no respect for their patients and do nothing but talk chit. I am nothing like most of you, I am ashamed of you, have some respect. Be humble, stop fishing for attention on social media.
Someone is finally saying it. It truly is disgusting. But most of the time, many of these tiktok scrub wearers are not necessarily nurses. Many are people who work in the healthcare field and are able to wear scrubs. Most times I find that a vast majority of them are social workers in scrubs.

PS Dudernguy might not appreciate this as not serious and professional enough, although he does bring up the tik tok controversy. LOL
Enjoy!
My friend told me about him. I thought the preceptor one was funny too. Loved the one who is peeking around the corner every five seconds

I am fairly certain that most people would be quick to judge me for any one of those things or by my appearance, so I make it a point to NOT judge others, especially by such superficial standards as what they post online. Who am I to dictate what makes others happy? Who are you to do so? More love, people. More love. We spend so much time pointing fingers when we really need to look inside and figure out what we are lacking that makes us feel like we are able to sit in judgment of others.
As a CCRN for almost 18 years and a female Firefighter in the 90’s, complete with tattoos and an actual Harley, trust me when I tell you...no one gives a S$&T what you look like when you’re working a code. On the same token, no one gives a s$@t if you had a patient on your assignment for 3 days, who, when you return after four days off, is now in a negative pressure room due to active TB or herpes, so understand that. The difference is that I wanted to become a nurse to help people. ALL people. I have had colleagues tell me flat out that they’re in nursing for the money. This leaves me seriously puzzled. There isn’t enough money in the world to compensate me for being screamed at, pooped on, and even physically hurt. There are a million other professions, including becoming a stripper, that pay way more and are less degrading. Had I paid attention when I were younger, who knows, but apparently I didn’t, so here I am, ?. Regardless of ALL of it, I don’t need a participation ribbon, I prefer my scars. As far as social media, watch “The Social Dilemma” on Netflix. I’m willing to bet that more than half of anyone who does will NEVER get on social media, ever again.
In closing, I’ll be curious to see (if I’m still alive in twenty years)how ortho will handle all the “thumb” and “neck” issues secondary to cell phone use. Stay tuned. ✌?

I left facebook about 3-4 years ago, never had any of the other accounts, and even my linked-in account has so much dust on it that I'm being congratulated for time on a job that I haven't had in years. To be honest, I thought tik tok was some kind of timing challenge that these young folks are doing.
But I do envy those folks who have that kind of time on their hands (before and/or after working 12+ hour shifts or the straight 8-5 Monday-Friday) and are able to show the world every single meal that they eat (Dang!! You got to eat today?!??!) and are willing to check in with said world for approval in every move that they make. That's how it was when I parted ways with social media. Obviously, it has progressed a bit. I have got to get out more.
AMEN ! ?

I think you should share your thoughts on TikTok, insta and fakebook where you will more easily hit your target audience.
Or just realize there have probably always been nurses who portray nursing in cringe ways and display it all over everything. T-shirts and coffee mugs and $5 canvas bags and basically anything else able to be printed upon.
Signed,
"Nursing is a work of ♥️"
Actually, I have a shirt...with the big blue “H”. Underneath it says, “does not stand for Hilton”. I wear it all the time. ?

Your entire post was a joyride to read, LC!
I copied only the first sentence because, really, when the entire post is quoted, who reads it all over again?

Are you kidding ME?
Nurses are appropriately using social media to bring attention to just how difficult, discouraging, and dangerous it can be to be a nurse, as well as blowing off steam by actually having some fun, which is essential to preventing depression, PTSD, and suicide. Do you seriously think most nurses sign up for money? Work through a harrowing health disaster, treating people who don't listen or care, risking their own lives.... for money? Nurses sign up because they care. That agenda you mentioned is the real problem. These angels are being treated as disposable virus walls, and it's only becoming more common as health care is increasingly monetized. And you shaming nurses for bringing attention to this is part of the problem. You're part of the problem. Nurses are dying saving lives. Sacrificing mental health saving lives. Sacrificing everything to save lives. How dare you shame them. The old way of eating your young and telling nurses to grin and bear it is dying. Move aside.

Nurses have been treated like this for years, where have you been ? We just never had an audience to *** to...
