Do you consider your hairstyle to be an important part of your uniform or just a luxury?
Even more importantly, is it tax deductible?
Share! Between coloring, cutting, styling, and maintaining, about how much do spend on your hair annually?
lol!well, if you can call a pony tail a hairstyle ...
at 27, i do now have a number of grey hairs distributed on the top of my head. i will be getting it colored soon. that will also be necessity.
:) i've been coloring my hair for several years now, because i prefer dark red to dirty blonde.
lately, however, i've noticed some gray hairs in my eyebrows .... i guess i've now gone from luxury to necessity, too! just never noticed the buggers in my hair since i get it colored!
herringRN----I too am from the "golden age".....I find I am still wearing long hair in a braid....It is easy, quick, and out of the way for pt. care...One time I cut and permed (in my 30's) but went right back to my old hairstyle....too much work....
At my facility they wouldn't care if we came in bald or afro....as long as we come in !!!!!
thanks to thick wavy hair, i sport a short style which needs a trim every six weeks at $25.00 a pop (call it around $225) plus covering gray at home at about the same time ($10 @=$80 total). add in the large economy sized shampoo, and i'm out around $350 a year. no need for hair products, i wash, comb, and go...
make up for it with dh, though...like stanley, we got a $40 pair of clippers, and buzz his mostly bald head every weekend. since he was shelling out $18 every other week for his military short cuts, figure we are ahead at least $450...not to mention how much sexier the patrick stewart look is!!:yeah:
Spend way to much but am in my 30's with silver streaks and tend to be paid better and have better reviews when my hair is colored:( ( I did not color for 1 year and my raise was about half as much as the following year when I did color ) the do it yourself stuff will not cover my silver.:flamesonb

one last comment.....I wear my hair braided at work, because it is out of my face and not in the way of pt. care. At home and at social activities my hair is down and I feel very comfortable with it. I wear my hair at work in a way that suits my work. I do not style it or cut it for that purpose. But, I do respect the dress code at work and I "address my hair" in an appropriate way. LOL
