As I sit here placing mutiple job applications I've been thinking back to when I worked the floor as an LPN.
Nurse Week, the one week other than holidays that you will see yummy goodies given to the nurses. I'm not talking about the token stuff the hospital does, though seeing your CEO pushing an ice cream cart at 3AM so the night shift can get the ice cream goodies the day shift got is kinda funny.
The funniest/best I've ever seen was when I worked in AZ. Each shift got a huge cheesecake sampler from the Cheesecake Factory. Very, very yummy. The funny part: it was from the Cardiology Group We couldn't decide if they were just being nice or creating future patients LOL
The healthiest was from an Ortho doc at a hospital in KY. Sent all three shifts a huge box of fruit shipped up from Florida. Had the juiciest pears I've ever tasted and oranges that were actually sweet.
Anyone else? Remember, funny/yummy/cool stuff please :yeah:

When I worked in an acute dialysis unit, the docs were kind to us. One year we received personalized mugs - not hospital issue - but with our own names on them! Another year, they gave us all very nice eelskin wallets.
I really don't ever want another piece of plastic - unless it's a gift card with a reasonable amt on it. 5 dollars for Starbucks was not my favorite item.
And a free meal in the cafeteria doesn't make my heart beat faster, either.
I received a nice umbrella one time. NO MORE TOTE BAGS OR KEYCHAINS, PPLLEEAASSE!!!

Every year for Christmas and for nurses week we get one of those huge canisters of popcorn that everybody walks by and digs their hands into....from the Infectious Disease group. And one of our GI docs always sends up a big bag of pistachios or some other type of shelled nut. And an endocrinology group has been known to send a 5-lb box of chocolates. We are so grateful for the treats but it makes me wonder if they're just trying to keep the patients coming in!!
One year we all got watches, nice ones too. It was easy to spot employees from that hospital system LOL

This one would be totally inappropriate (especially in my unit), but it's still kinda funny:

One year, we each got...ready for it...a $1 gift certificate(yes, one dollar) for the hospital ice cream shop. The nurses collected them and sent them back to the hospital's president...I heard he got the message.

I've never gotten anything but cheap trinkets from the employers. Never anything from the doctors. It's not even really called Nurses' Week in some places any more. It's now Health Workers' Week or something like that. Never anything for other than Day shift. Very sad and also made me angry and hurt.
One place did a talent show and luncheon for Days. Also free CEU classes. That was nice for them.
Ssecretaries get lunch and flowers and such because there are fewer of them, I suppose.
I hate Nurses's Week and the pain that's caused by the inconsiderate booboo head who don't seem to care about anyone but Day shift.

One year we received "clipboards." They were made of a "high quality" plastic over heavy cardboard. If you were a Girl Scout and made a "sit-upon," that was the plastic over the heavy cardboard. It was promptly tossed. I don't think anyone ever used it.
So cheap.

One year they held a raffle, giving away different items. I won a very nice bottle of wine. Asked them if I could drink it while at work. Never did get an answer for that.
