NCLEX RN- States not requiring PNLE passer

World Registration

Published

Hi everyone!

I am newbie here so please help me out. :)

I just graduated BS-Nursing this year in the Philippines and I am not a US citizen or immigrant. I just wanted to know which States do not require PNLE passer before taking the NCLEX-RN. I know some states require you to be a Licensed/Registered Nurse in the country from which you received your nursing education.

I hope someone could maybe give me a list of those states because i was planning not to take the local boards anymore.

Please and Thank you!

It would be much better to figure out what state you want to practice in, then go from there. You might want to post up in the International forum and you may get more answers there.

Recognize also that more and more states are requiring a SS# to start the application. I think NY doesn't require a SS# yet, but in most states you also need to get your courses evaluated and pass one of the English knowledge exams.

Thank you BennyRNCA for the reply and advise! :) it's very much appreciated!..

i have no idea where to post this so thanks for giving me a hint.

Well, I have relatives in Illinois so I was trying to find States near it since Illinois require me to be an RN first in my country. It's good to know New York still does not require SS#!

NY state is not requiring a local license but you should have a SSN to apply for NCLEX-RN. You can check their requirements here: http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/nurse/NursingApplicationPacket-October07.pdf
