Italian nursing degree

  1. Hello!
I was wondering if there is someone knowing if the nursing degree in Italy is closer to a Rn degree in Canada or a RPN ? The length of the university degree program is 3 years.
    Thank you

    Hi,
as long as I know, only some nursing program from UK has succeed to grant a comparable nursing degree with Canada. It depends on case by case. If you decided to move to Canada, you'd better ask for application package and start the NNAS credential assessment.

Hi Casoclinico. I'm an italian nurse myself. I took my NCLEx and got my US licence just a few months ago. What i can say is that I had to have my italian licence recognized by CGFNS before being allowed to take the NCLEx exam. I fear that it is, more or less, the same story with Canada. You probably need to check with the local Board of Nursings what are the requirements to have your italian licence recognized. In bocca al lupo!

La ringrazio. Crepi ! Can I also ask if your nurisng degree resulted comparable or non comparable ? Mine is form university of Bologna , I don't know if there's any change throughout nurisng university in Italy. Were You asked to get additional courses in order to compensate the eventual gap existing ? What about the immigration process , did you get through the work visa one or pr? Thank you a lot in advance !

I graduated from Uni Bologna Too. My degree was not comparable and i had to take some additional clinical hours in some nursing areas. After that My degree was deemed comparable and i had the "go" from the Board of Nursing to take the NCLEX. A couple of months ago i signed a contract, after few interviews with different agents, and now i'm going through the immigration process. I don't Know How it Works in Canada but if you want some infos about US Write me in private and i'll give you My email.
