Psych no salary/pay

Hello fellow Pysch NPs,

I had an interview for out patient Psych job. They ask me if I am looking for contract hire or to be employed by them. I'm in The Pacific Northwest region Oregon/Idaho border rural area.

Not sure what is fair pay as this would be first full time psych job. What do y'all psych nps get per hour or salary. No weekends or holidays. No hospital rounds or on call.

I do work part time elsewhere and get paid $130 an hour. I am 1099 there I believe this is the higher end of the spectrum and do not expect the full time job to make such offer with benefits but not sure what would be a reasonable hourly or salary range.

Also I graduated as an fnp in 2015 and currently enrolled in a Post masters Psych program.

So you aren't a psych NP? I'd make sure your state will allow you to work in psych without the certification. I would need $110 an hour plus benefits if I was making $130 as a 1099.

Yes the state allows it and there is supervision and collaboration. The 130 I am making in another job.

1. Are they covering anything? Group Malpractice or letting you buy into their Health Insurance (The second one if you are older is the big one).

2. 130 is really up there for psych. I'm locums and my package comes to about 85/hr. (Or I failed my negotiations miserably)

2. Depending on where you are in your career especially if you think this is going to be a shorter stay with both school being deductible as a business expense and maxing out a I401K both the employee side of 19K or more if you are over 50 and then about 20% of the profit.

My other part time job pays 130/hr.

This is for a different position elsewhere full-time. I have the option of being employed vs 1099.

Im 32. Would like to stay there for many years to come .

Sorry but unless this was in Florida or as an employee and included a sweet benefits package yeah you failed your negotiations miserably.

I might be mistaken but I thought Locums companies kept whatever surplus the employer is paying so they try to low ball? And if 1099 they should be offering premium wages in imo.

I should have numbers this evening or tomorrow. I sl didn't want to be on the failed miserably list. Only have like one chance to get it right. Or forever regret it. Tru about Florida. I was there prior to the state I live in now. It's one of the worst. My friend just took a psych np job. She will do clinics and rounds and has been to afraid to even ask what her pay will be. She's scared to ask because of the high competition. She considers herself lucky and blindly took job because she's new grad. We will see what they say. Hope I don't have to negotiate too hard.

I know Armanix but Florida is so competitive that when you just want to get a job you consider yourself lucky and take crap. My first no job I took 85 Grand a year and work like a slave . it average out to $36 an hour was working late and having to work every third weekend

Im doing community mental health again. You commented on another post a while back. Maybe you work in a hospital so the facilities can pay more. Maybe you are a rockstar? I like a slower pace since i can get overwhelmed at times.

The numbers you quote don't seem typical. Or maybe im a schmuck.

I have some issues with the practice model that was not discussed going in. No clinical support and im floating in four programs.

I have an email into the recruiter and want to talk to her today. I'd like to quit. They hired me for a leave coverage for 6 months.

Like we said in previous posts I'm semi retired at this point. I needed somewhere to over winter.

Breaking a contract is going to get me blacklisted.

I've lost my ambition. 10 years ago I'd be all for an intense position with paid ot.

The local clinic also gets contract people from a local medical school also so I'll be also on their black list.

I still think the op should calculate the cost of getting to write off grad school as a business expense as a 1099 for the years she is in school, and max I401k if they can. Might come out cheaper than the employee side of things.

Which is part of their model. Start people and have them move on in a year. Get more. Repeat.

My patients are on their 4th provider in a row.
