I can't take it any more. I've posted previously about certain co-workers throwing me under the bus, but today my NM was particularly ******. The phone was ringing and because I didn't pick it up, she looked at me with disgust and said "you know, you can pick up the phone" with a very sarcastic tone. Just the other day, I'm picking up the phone every 2 minutes, and she happened to call a few times, and she comments that I'm the only one picking up the phone. She runs hot and cold. All I could do was look at her and mumble "I'm sorry"
***...I feel like no matter what I do, it's not good enough.
Just needed to vent because can't vent at work,

If she was just standing there, doing nothing I'd have picked up the phone, and promptly handed it to her. But then again, I'd have probably mooned her while I was at it.
I have very little patience these days.

:icon_hug:I'm right there with ya, sister! Our managers are rude too. Have not met many who weren't. Nursing is a team effort and that applies to answering phones too! Maybe yours was PMSing????

I am with the others...something wrong with her hands?? I would have said "I am doing blah blah blah (something really important I hope) could you please get that" see what she says...if she still will not pick it up I would then get it....... but you still get the message across and she will look like a lazy ###,not you

I always pick up the phone when NM is around unless I am busy :-) When she is not around, not so much :-)

Just say Ok I will next time, and brush it off your shoulders.
Thanks all for your humor! Definitely had to vent...don't want to have things build up and say something I'd regret at work.

{{HUGS}} I feel for you. I've dealt with the same types of co-workers and managers and it just makes life miserable and puts floor nurses in the perfect frame of mind to create med errors, make mistakes in patient care and generally **** off the staff.
Take a deep breath, remember that you are doing the best you can for your patients, and sometimes prioritizing your workload means that the phone will ring for a while.
Good luck

Do not expect the NM, DON or any other management personal to be nice to you. I have come to the conclusion that being a mean and lazy person is a prerequisite for the job. Good Luck, keep your sense if humor, your gonna need it.

Why didn't she pick up the phone?
Um, because her nail polish wasn't dry?
I actually looked into our clinical mgr's office window one day & she was PAINTING HER TOENAILS & TALKING ON THE PHONE.
Meanwhile, we had 6 total cares each & were admitting from the ER as fast as we could.
Go figure.

Yet another reason, I do not do acute care anymore.
