Hi Tren,
I am also looking into this and feel as you do about sexual assault examining.
Right now I am trying to find out more information, but the best resources I've found for continuing education regarding this field have been ABMDI.org, and taife.com. I'm sure there are other programs out there, it's just a matter of using the right language in your search bar.
Keep me posted if you find something else?
Thanks
Somebody help me. I have worked inpatient forensic units, State hospitals with forensic nurses and been doing legal consulting since 1997. However, all I seem to get from the Forensic Nursing world is SANE. Are there male SANE's? I raised two daughters and don't think I would be at all comfortable (nor would she) if my daughter had been sexually assaulted and a man was setting up for the exam. Please expand my knowledge base.
Not to sure if anyone is still interested in this topic still but I have some information.
Although I am not from the USA, I actually live and work in Canada as a Nurse Coroner.
My boss recently talked about a course at the University of North Dakota for "Death Investigating Training".
Good luck to everyone interested in this topic.

Are there male SANE's? Yup. I'm a male sexual assault examiner. I think it has to do with how you develop a rapport with the person presenting for care - letting them know they are safe, that they are in control of the exam, and that my purpose is to support them and help them get what they need I feel makes the difference.

I am looking for information on Forensic Nurse Investigators or Nurse Coroner/Death Investigators.
I am not interested in SANE, so I am hoping to talk to someone who went one of these other routes.
I am a BSN with 2 years ED experience.
The internet is very vague about these specific fields.
