I am an ER nurse in a freestanding. We do not have a "papoose" board. I am looking for a good video to watch on how to restrain peds pts for sutures. Thanks!
  2. I am looking for information on Forensic Nurse Investigators or Nurse Coroner/Death Investigators. I am not interested in SANE, so I am hoping to talk to someone who went one of these other routes. I am a BSN with 2 years ED experience. The internet is very vague about these specific fields.
  3. I am sorry, I really don't know what they will and will not do. It's all up to the individual circumstance. Best wishes with your nursing career!
  4. Sorry, I am not sure............if you have not already met with financial aid, then you still have some other work to do.........
  5. All they can say is no, so it's worth the asking for sure. I don't think they will apply for you, but I think that they will point you in the right direction and give you advice on where to go. I am thinking that you should have already met with them, if you have been accepted? Did you already sign a contract?
  6. Financial Aid/Grants/Scholarships are based on individual circumstances, not schools. WCU will help you determine what you qualify for and give you the tools to apply/collect. This is the way that all financial aid offices work at all colleges. The opportunity to participate is the same. When you start at WCU they tell you up front what your degree is going to cost and they work out a plan with you. They deduct what you qualify for and they spread the balance evenly over the course of your time at the school. Some people pay monthly, some people pay by term. They are very flexible with the plan, but are very strict on no allowing you to start each term and/or allow you to take finals in that class with any type of outstanding balance. You will be required to sign a contract before you start. Hope that helps.
  7. So, I just want to be clear............ An APRN is not the same track as NP? APRN is a MSN degree choice and I would choose one of the specialties you mentioned above?
  8. Hi there! I am having some trouble understanding the choices available for MSN degrees. I already have my BSN and am currently practicing as a ER nurse in Texas. I would like to go back to school, but am not really interested in Education or NP. I know there is Forensics and Informatics, but now I am seeing this Advanced Generalist option. Can someone tell me what the Advanced Generalist is and if I might be missing other choices? -Trena
  9. I am in Texas. I work nights by choice. 3x 12 hr per week. I am allowed to pick up 1 extra 12 hour shift per week, if I choose. No mandatory OT. Once in a while due to high census, we miss lunch, but we can write it in the exceptions book and get paid.
  10. WCU only offers BSN so you will go straight through with no ADN if you attend.
  11. The college does not award or choose financial aid. This decision is made by the government. This is the same for all colleges that participate. WCU participates fully and although I did not personally qualify, I attended with many who did. The school has a full financial aid staff who will help you get the most from the choices out there. Remember, they want you to attend, so it is in their best interest to help you get it.
  12. ok, I think I will give it a try! Thank you!!
  13. The only issue I have with using my phone at bedside or while in front of patients/families is the unprofessional "appearance". Some people assume there is not a lot of "helpful" stuff on a phone.
  14. Looking for advice on the best English/Spanish - Spanish/English pocket tool. Not looking for anything too thick or heavy since I want to carry it in my scrubs. Thanks!
  15. Yes, I do recommend that and to follow up with admissions to make sure they approved all of your transfers.
